Ludicrous Bullshit in Day to Day

Another weekend of exercise. Nudie night at the local pool, and I managed 26 lengths, I know, 26! And all day at the allotment Sunday. I did lots of digging, and I managed to go a bit pink in the sun. I also finally decided to buy a tablet. I didn’t want top spend a huge amount on an iPad, and I like Android, so I went for a £99 Tesco Hudl 2. I was hoping I could use a £20 off voucher, but sadly the small print told me I couldn’t, so paid full price. I’m quite impressed however. I haven’t really finished setting it up yet. At some point I am going to have to buy a new desktop PC. My laptop is starting to crumble under the strain.
I want to talk about nude people taking pictures of themselves at famous sites. This seems to be something of a fashion these days. I like to think of myself as something of a trail blazer here. I have several pictures of me naked in front of famous London landmarks. But I digress. The point is, people are travelling the world and taking nude photos of themselves at internationally famous sites. Not everyone thinks it’s funny. Just last month a Hong Kong model caused all sorts of trouble doing a nude bungy jump in Thailand. And last week European tourists upset Malaysian authorities when they posed for nude photos on Mt. Kinabalu.
The interesting thing about the Malaysian story is that it’s being reported that the naked tourists are now being blamed by a politician for angering the mountain spirits and a subsequent earthquake. I find it astounding that in an age where we can build robot cars and land spacecraft on Mars, that there are still people who believe mountain spirits cause earthquakes because willies make them angry.
The story is set to roll on for a while. The New Straits Times today reports that one of the naked tourists has used social media to insult State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun, calling him an idiot. Now make no mistake, calling a politician an idiot is no way to show respect. However, Datuk Masidi Manjun in my view should probably expect people to call him an idiot if he starts spouting ludicrous bullshit about mountain spirits causing earthquakes.
Stephen Gough the naked rambler is in the news again. His appeal for a conviction for breaching an ASBO banning him from being naked in public has failed. He appeared in court by video link, naked. Gough has become a bit of a bell end. He no longer really knows what he’s fighting for and if he’s not careful he’s just going to end up giving nudists in general a bad name and actually prompt anti-nudity legislation.
