Mom was awarded a 90 day trial period in her home on Monday. This unfortunately had us scrambling because it wasn’t expected so soon. We were honestly thinking a good month off. So, Monday, Tuesday and today I watched my nephew. Mom’s housemate, Shirley, volunteered to take him for the rest of this afternoon. Friday Dad is going to take him to Alicen’s for the day then mom has Sat. and Sunday off… or so she says. I have housework to do that will wait till Monday because, well, I don’t wanna do it. I have 5 hours and they are mine all mine. Rocky is asleep and he won’t be up until 8:45 to leave at 9.... no one will be home for another 2 1/2 hours.... I’m chilling right here…

We have signed Joshua into a daycare here in town. I told mom I’d be glad to pick him up and help get him off in the mornings Monday-Thursday but I can not watch him like I was before. Now that he’s more vocal and says “I don’t have to” and has been spoiled for a year by the Foster mom he’s a bit too much for me. I hate having conversations in which I have to threaten to take things away for him to do something.

Yesterday, he was playing happily in his sandbox and decided to do something else. I asked him if he was done with the sandbox “Yes.” “Okay we need to clean it up” (Grandma’s rules, when you are done with something you put it away before you get something else out) “I don’t have to.” “Yes, you do have to it’s the rules remember” “I don’t have to.” “Okay, but grandmas going to be upset because you weren’t listening. I really think it would be better for you if you clean them up” “I don’t have to.” “Josh, if I have to clean them up we are done playing outside all together and we will be going inside” “I don’t want to go inside” “I know that’s why you should clean them up” “I don’t have to.” “Look buddy, the only options here are clean up the sandbox toys (btw he had them all out of the sandbox) or go inside” “I don’t have to” “Yes, yes you do.” I cleaned it up and took him inside where he threw a fit. Mom messaged me saying she was on her way home and that they needed to go to the Foster moms house to pick up his things when she got in. So I told him Grandma was on the way home and they were going to go out and I’d tell him where they were going if he cleaned up the toys in the living room. (Mom’s only about 15 mins out) We had more “I don’t have to”s and I told him I was going to have to tell grandma he was misbehaving..... he didn’t start picking them up until she walked in. I told her about the sandbox she grounded him from it for 2 days. Unfortunately I felt the need to drop a little “I told you so” over it. He will be 5 next month, what kinda battle does that win?

Today, it took him 10 mins to go to the restroom after telling me he had to pee because I wouldn’t go with him. He can do it all on his own. The bathroom is all safe… everything is there in his reach and he knows how to use it. I had to insult him and threaten him :( “Big boys can go to the bathroom on their own. Little boys need someone to go with them. Little boys aren’t allowed to play ipad. So I guess you aren’t big enough yet” I hate that :( but what’s a girl to do. He didn’t need me. I pulled out my 3DS and started playing it. “I wanna play ipad” “Nope, you can’t even go to the bathroom on your own.” (btw anything with a screen you can play games on is an ipad 3DS, phone, tablet, ipad lol) He practically jumped up and ran to the bathroom. I heard it all, man he must have been holding it, lol. He moved his stool and washed his hands and everything and came running back. “I play ipad now” I was reluctant and talked to him about being a big boy and going potty on his own and not arguing with adults before I let him play for about 15 mins.

I know this is average kid behavior, I do really. I understand that I may or may not have gone the best route on those but..... I’m not a kid person. I think I did okay.

I have food to prep for work but honestly I think I’m just going to eat junk.... the cafe thing at work will have hot food for lunch Friday only and the rest of the weekend I’ll just have to wing it. This is seriously the only time I’ve had since Monday....

Monday we did groceries and Rocky decided we HAD to go to Franklin to get the next book in the series he’s reading (he said it’s the last). We got home and played like 30 mins of video games before he decided it was bed time. Tuesday I was out of here by 5:30am got breakfast and them spent the day with Joshua. Got home at about 7pm got dinner with Rocky and went to bed. Same thing Wednesday. Tuesday Rocky did laundry so that’s done… and today Shirley took over :). So, as I seen it out of 4 days off.... I’m getting 5 hours. sigh oh yeah I’m glad for daycare. I am such a selfish jerk. .... but … but other kids and and personal development.... I’ve even volunteered to pay for a week a month. :)
