Two nights ago my Sister rang, ‘hi Jamez – Mum’s all right’ Ho I think ‘Hi – what’s happened!’ – paws – ‘Mum’s had a fight with another lady ….!’

I’m not quite sure what really happened and neither dose my Sister, it seem the staff at the home found the ladies on the floor, their walking frames still upright. It was lunch time and the staff are busy with those who need help getting to the dinning rooms, Mum and the other lady can get about un-added, the altercation took place at the lift, possibly each thought they were there first; it is times like that those with dementia exhibit their childish state. I imagine there was some words and pushing; what ever they ended on the floor.

As lunch carried on the two ladies were helped back to there respective rooms to wait for medical check, fortunately both were fine, Mum talked to the doctor but not to the staff, when they were in her room Mum laid on her bed with her eyes closed and not talking. The staff went into the corridor and watch Mum from there, after a minute Mum was looking round checking they had left; the doctor was still there watching! Mum was sent to Hospital for a full check, by tea time she was divan the all clear and transport was organized, when it arrived Mum refused to go.

My sister received a call at work, did she think she could persuade Mum to go back to the home, Mum never listens to her, before Mum went into the home, Mum was sitting in the car outside the apartment refusing to get out of the car, my Sister had taken her to the seafront, it went on for two hours; only coming to an end by a call of nature! So Mum remained in hospital over night. The next day she refused to go because of her cloths, being in a strange place she didn’t find a loo in time. The last we heard was that the homes handy man was been sent to the hospital with a change of cloths; and hopefully retune with Mum. Sounds strange that last line, but there is sense in there action, he is bourn and bred in Portsmouth but Mum has decided he is from Walford Heath where she grew up!

This morning I called the home, it seems the Shropshire Lad from Portsmouth did the trick, he had Mum home yesterday and in time for lunch! I was told Mum is settled in again and taking part in to days activates. My Sister is going to the home this morning, to day she works afternoon and evenings so I expect a call after nine. After the thirty six hours away Mum could be happy, being in her usual surroundings again; I hope.
