I Want To Drag You Around by Blondie in The Song Remembers When

A year ago, Blondie came out with a new album.

Blondie is an artist with whom I have a deep, intimate connection, musically. I didn’t really listen to Blondie until I saw them in 2004, met Jeff the Jew and then continued with my life. I’ve seen them quite a few times, almost as many times as I’ve seen Fleetwood Mac. In that time, Blondie has only come out with three albums, but each of them have defined my life in a different way.

Last September, when I went to Palm Springs for the week, I played this song so much it made my friend Dave sick. He was so frustrated with the amount of times I played the song. I think he really thought that I was going insane. I really don’t remember what was going on, but I remember the song made me feel good.

I love that it’s such a random beat and arrangement, I love that the lyrics seem to refer to a controlling situation and how that might work for the best. I think I wanted somebody to tell me what to do, I was deep in my depression and I couldn’t see anything else in it.
