Sunday’s entry:
The last day in the desert went as planned. After my bowl of cereal and one cup of coffee I walked over to the pool and took a long hot shower. When I returned I started a load of wash.
Mom decided we should leave early enough so we could stop at Jack in the Box for a burger.
Long story short, I ended up at the airport four hours early. TSA was breeze as I was the only one there. I found a place to sit and dink on my tablet.
The flight left on time, but was a half hour late landing because we had to fly around some weather.
I stepped outside the terminal and found Jassy waiting in the van.
After a splendid spaghetti supper I called it a night at 11:30pm CST (9:30pm MT).
I slept in a little bit this morning- 6am CST (8am MT).
It has just started raining. Jassy wanted to get out and about this morning, but it looks rather doubtful at the moment. She has the day off and she’s sleeping in. Clayton should be home from work any moment.
Tuesday’s entry:
Sunday morning we all headed out to run some errands. The first stop was the parts house. Jassy bought everything we needed for the van. Next stop was Walmart where we wandered around a bit. I had to buy some shampoo and Jassy was looking for work pants. After that we had planned on doing some work on the van, but it had started raining. We didn’t even get the new wiper arms on.
So that was it for the day. We spent the rest of the day in the apartment.
Monday, yesterday, Jassy and I set out in mid-morning for a round of errands. Our first stop was the laundromat in the old neighborhood. Jassy got her wash started and then came out to help with the van. A couple of minutes to swap out the wiper arms. And then we tackled the air filter. The last time she had helped me to swap air filters was the last time the filter was swapped, 2009, right before the “Big Summer Road Trip”. We tried to remember how we’d done it. We took the first cover off. We took the second loose. I snaked my arm in to spin the wing nut and then pop the lid off. The lid wouldn’t come off. And then the thing came off the post. Damn. The engine cover won’t come off because it hits the seats. There’s not enough clearance. The only option was to remove the passenger seat. Four bolts and two ten inch Crescent wrenches to work with. I crawled under the van and Jassy and I started working on the bolts. Whoever was able to spin, spun and whoever couldn’t held the other half from spinning. We finally got it. We got the new air filter in. And the laundry was done. We had been there for several hours.
Next stop was the car wash, after we stopped by Dollar Tree so Jassy could replace a blown out flip-flop.
The car wash was fairly quick. I started by filling a bucket with soapy water then soaping the van with the wand. I crawled up on top. Jassy handed me the bucket up and I scrubbed the top. There was about five years worth of grime up there. We finished scrubbing it down, then a rinse. We vacuumed it out and then called it good enough.
We were home in the late afternoon. A nice productive day.
So yeah, a good weekend.
I slept Saturday night on the floor in the spare bedroom because Clayton had taken the van to his work. Sunday night and last night I slept in the van. And last night was perfect. The perfect temperature and a nice thunderstorm. I was able to doze off to the sound of rain on the roof.
Jassy woke me up at 6:30 this morning. She had to be to work by seven. She had a pot of coffee ready for me.
The plan for the day is to finish these three cups of coffee while I finish this dinking and then wash a couple of days worth of dishes. And then I’m going for a nice long walk. I need to go to the library and get some books on my hold list. I’ve got about a half dozen to start with.
Liam Dog won’t be going this morning. I’ll take him next time.
And I’d like to get over to the student union today. I’ll take the laptop somewhere tonight to get online to post this.
It looks rather overcast this morning. I may need to take my umbrella.
Thursday’s entry:
The rest of Tuesday went fine. I had walked to the main Carnegie library to get some books lined up on my “Hold” list. I had eight books on my list, gleaned from other reading I had done for the last several months. Five non-fiction and three novels. One was already on hold. With the librarians help I found four more in the local system, two more from MOBIUS, and the last one from somewhere above and beyond MOBIUS. I didn’t even know that existed, let alone now knowing with the librarians help, how to use it myself. Very awesome.
I perused the “New” shelf and found a nice novel. Something to read while waiting for something to read.
I walked the couple of miles back, and also winding through the campus. I noted the library hours: 8am until 6pm M-F. The union’s hours were 7am until 5pm M-S. There were no newspapers. Everything will change after Intersession ends June 7th.
I spent the rest of the day reading.
Wednesday, yesterday, starting out with reading then delved into rental houses which involved riding in the third seat in the van while Jassy drove around looking for “For Rent” signs. We had no new finds.
I finished up the day by reading.
This morning I was woken up (awakened?) at 7:30am. Coffee was on. I fried up a couple of eggs. Jassy helped me to decipher bread kinds in a giant bag of ‘ends’ from the mornings she opens. I got either wheat or white. I drank a cup of coffee and then poured two more cups in my travel mug. We were at the farmer’s market at 8am. We spent $93 off my EBT. Next stop was Food for Less. We spent $135 off my EBT. I’ve got $35 on the EBT to walk around with until the 15th of next month. We were back at the apartment at 9:30am. Mission accomplished. They had an appointment to look at a house at 10am.
When the van returned I went out and read for the rest of the day. Until 8:30pm this evening. That is too dark to read time. I’ve got the d.light but I decided to come up and see if my old desk was being occupied. It wasn’t, so here I sit.
Tomorrow Jassy and I and Liam Dog are heading up north to Crackerville North to spend the day at Jassy’s moms doing chores. And hopefully having time to post this using her wifi.
I would be spending every night until midnight at Hardee’s but Hardee’s has been replaced by a CVS. I still haven’t found a replacement for Hardee’s for those hours. I still find it hard to believe that I sat over there for the better part of five years and now my spot is no longer. I guess I’ll be spending more time on campus.
So yeah, I may get this posted tomorrow.
Today’s entry:
The road trip to Crackerville North has been postponed due to rain. Jassy and I are sitting at the union, getting caught up on internet stuff. We plan on spending the day here.
