In my early days at school when we made a mistake writing with a pencil we used a rubber to rub it out. The cry was - anyone got a rubber - if you had not got one of your own - and you normally tossed it back (!!) when you had finished using it.
Well apparently you now would ask for an ‘eraser’ - and still use it to rub something out - but I guess there are too many connotations now - I lived in simpler times - and ‘rubbing one out’ has a totally different meaning.
Well actually an academic (American I think) has suggested that ‘erasers’ should be banned since children should own up to their mistakes - and get used to making them - not erase them - or rub them out!
Come one!!
Rubber are crucial - I never do crosswords in pen - I have special pencils with a rubber tip so that I can rub out my first thoughts. Ah - if life could be expunged with a rubber - actually, come to think of it it often is!!!!!!!

Anyway - standing looking at books in a bookshop (as one does) today - I was intrigues by a young woman in a school uniform - including long grey socks to just below her knees standing look it books, next to a lad not in uniform, and with a beard, of sorts, who was running his hand over her shoulders in an intimate fashion, then over her back occasionally - and just for a second over her bum.
I guess she was about 16 - and it took me back to the days when I went out with a 16 year old schoolgirl (I was 17) - and engaged in similar activities - but not in public - goodness knows, girls in school uniform in my day would be penalised for sucking something in the street (no not that mrs).

Here is Helen Mirren in school uniform - yum, yum
