Right Effort in Everyday Ramblings

I shot this because I thought the composition of the yard and the dappled light were nice. After putting up picture after picture of pretty flowers over on Facebook the other day I put up a picture of a lovely restored old house with harmonious plantings and received, for me, and unusually high number of “likes”.
Including one from Mr. Fine China. Sigh. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…
Oh well. I can deal if contact with him is only the occasional “like”. At least it takes no effort on my part and that is what is important. Expending no precious energy his direction.
Speaking of energy, boy was I tired last night. I was having the malaise as well and after work I baked some sweet potatoes and finished my 750 Words post and just listened to podcasts and additional material from the Beyond Mindfulness online conference. Including a presentation by this wonderful scientist yoga teacher at Stanford, Kelly McGonigal that might subtly shift how I interact with the Caregivers.
She is associated with the International Association of Yoga Therapists and must know Gary Kraftsow, who I just spent the weekend sitting at the feet of. Literally. Nobody wants that spot right in front so I take it. He sometimes mumbles in Sanskrit of goes off on fascinating asides and I enjoy being able to hear those.
If I can scrounge together the money I may take his two-year training in Yoga Therapy. It is the direction my heart wants me to go in. But it will be awhile. It means leaving the cats for ten days at a time and I am most definitely not anywhere near ready to do that now. Maybe if we were living with someone else. :)
My Buddhist counselor says that I am fine just the way I am and that I don’t need to effort to try to change. To trust that I will do what needs to be done to take care of what needs to be done.
Embodying that idea though…
I am so happy with the results of the stair challenge. That few minutes of effort every day for 8 weeks means that every day now moving through life is easier.
The plank challenge is more difficult. Even though it takes less time and I don’t need to leave the house, on some of the movements I don’t yet have the chest muscle strength to complete the day’s instructions. It is good to challenge oneself I believe.
She says this as she heads off to the office… sigh again.
