The Mystery Continues... in Everyday Ramblings

Wow, I feel like I have been away on a journey.
My yoga teacher Olga’s teacher Gary Kraftsow was in town over the weekend on pretty short notice. The workshop information was quite confusing and so when I paid for it a few weeks back I thought I was just getting the Friday portion specifically for teachers but it turns out I had paid for the whole weekend. All 17 hours of training.
So now when I close my eyes I see flowers and when I am quiet I hear Sanskrit.
The organization of the material was done on the fly and I believe at the request of the studio owner. Gary hasn’t been here for almost three and ½ years and it was intense not just for us but for him too. We were some zonked people by yesterday afternoon. But energized too, because the material is so directly related to what I do when I teach.
On top of that the Shambhala Buddhist Center in Colorado was having a five-day online conference in Beyond Mindfulness that I was watching parts of. I ended up purchasing the package (they had a good deal for participants) so I could watch the whole thing at my leisure and take notes. I was getting all stressed about trying to catch things and that, umm, sort of defeats the purpose.
Oh yeah, and I took the cooking with greens class last Wednesday, which turned out to be quite intimate with only three students and two nutritionist dieticians.
Did you know that Watercress is right up there at the top of the nutritional powerhouse list? Unless it was at a fancy restaurant or hidden I have never had watercress before. They made this Cauliflower Watercress soup from Skinny Taste that was yummy and that is from a person who is not normally a fan of green soups due to some unfortunate experiences with pea soup when she was younger.
We had a Swiss Chard Smoothie, Mustard Green Chips with Cajun spices, Citrus Collards, Mâche and Endive Salad with Fennel, Olives and Blood Orange Vinaigrette, (They used a regular orange as blood oranges weren’t available), Arugula Pesto and my favorite because it was so yummy and simple Lemon Avocado Massaged Kale Salad.
It is a good thing next week is a three-day weekend for us because I am behind in all my chores and the floor could sure use a good vacuum. The cats were good about all that away time but they were also quite attached to me while I slept when I did get home.
I also saw the periodontist on Tuesday. She did some work on my mouth about five years ago and she says this mystery thing is real. I am showing signs of inflammation and have problems all over my mouth, which are probably indicators of something else going on. She is wonderful but oh man this is not going to be either cheap or fun. In a couple of weeks they are going to hit me with a bunch of antibiotics and clean up what they can and then when I heal from that we look at next steps.
The mystery continues to unfold in my body and therefore in my life.
May and June are going to be complicated in terms of scheduling but the good news is there will be time off work. I need time off work as I am on the verge of burnout in that arena.
Yesterday I got to spend a little time petting some Nigerian Dwarf Goats someone has in their yard. They are feisty at about a year old and constantly in motion so it was hard to get a good picture. Based on the goat energy that has come into our lives lately we think my sister may have reincarnated as a goat.
That is so appropriate if you knew her…
She was very stubborn at times. :)
Life is just full of surprises. And just now, gorgeous gorgeous flowers as well.
