Dinner out.....with a beaver in blackpropaganda

While we are getting sunshine, showers and a brisk wind with temperatures around C13 - in Spain they are in the low C30s and sometimes higher - why are we here? Actually those kind of temperatures are too hot for us - a nice 20 - 25 would do the trick - so maybe they will have dropped a bit when we go out at the end of the month.

And, you get some nice surprises at home - one of our neighbours who was widowed early and brought up four kids on her own invited us for a meal last night. She just has one lad at home now, and we have never had an invitation to a meal before - just calling in and having a drink or something usually.

So we had no idea what to expect - but it is great to walk across the road with a bottle - and there were another couple who are neighbours, and an American couple who were on a tour of the Ireland and the UK, and were staying with L for a few days. Hey, what a great evening. He had corresponded with L by e mail on a whole range of issues for fifteen years or so - but they had never met. To be greeted at the door by someone saying ‘Hi, I’m Marty, and can be a little mad’ - can be a bit off putting - but soon we were all at ease, and finding out lots about Marty and his wife - from Detroit -both retired - both married and divorced but known each other since high school and became partners ten years ago. He fought in Vietnam, she was a teacher - and a really great couple. So a nice meal, good drink, and great company - and a great advert for Americans abroad - and I hope I did not talk too much.
