“The Monument to the Women of World War II is a British national war memorial situated on Whitehall in London, to the north of the Cenotaph. It was sculpted by John W. Mills, unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II and dedicated by Baroness Boothroyd in July 2005.”
It was unveiled two days after the 7/7 bombings and cost several million.
It depicts a false impression of the poor women who were forced socially and legally to abandon their lives to die for a nation that cared nothing about them nor their male counter parts while pushing them to directly and indirectly kill the people of another nation that cared not for the little folk either.
It is War Propaganda used to push the idea of noble warriors and the forward empire.
It is a perfectly appropriate venue for a member of an oppressed group to express their anger at the continued reign of an oligarchy whose focous is to disempower the poor, blame immigrants and maintain power by removing the human rights act, separating from the world community and leading directly to the homelessness and death of thousands of the citizens it is supposed to stand for, let alone the millions it will reduce to hand outs for food and slavery via work fare. “Fuck Tory Scum” is not a nuanced chant by any means, but captures the spirit of the oppressed here quite cogently.
