At last, this morning, I am back to the simple life.
On Tuesday evening the wine tasters had a meal together - over 25 well arranged around tables so that we could see each other - we started with a prosecco reception as everyone arrived - and then moved to the tables where we had a starter with a great white wine - with the main courses there was a choice of two whites and two reds - and then a sweet wine with the desserts.
I was involved in pouring the wines - well the first two and the last, since the main wines were left on the tables for people to drink as they wished.
The service and food in the restaurant was superb - and the wines had been well chosen by the convenor of the group. It was good for the restaurant because at this time of year on a Tuesday the place would be pretty empty - and they got close to £600 for the evening.
My problem was that I enjoyed all the wines too well - and the food.
I was fine going to bed - but after about four hours sleep I could feel that mixture of food and wine moving about - and lay quietly - not really sleeping - but waiting for the reflux to subside.
The yesterday we went to the city on an early train to do some shopping and then go to a concert. Not the best thing when you have not slept well, and are still feeling full!! Still I survived - and the concert was wonderful - although I hope the people behind me did not take offence when I produced a silent fart which was fruity to say the least!!!!
What a joy to have a good sleep last night - to have a wonderful clear out - and feel ready for a day when I have nothing on - that is literally true at the moment - but I shall be showered and dressed after writing this - and I should say I have already made a pepper sauce wich is bubbling away on the stove.

Today is the 70th anniversary of the death of Adolf Hitler - as the Soviet troops were in Berlin he shot Eva Braun and committed suicide. IT still amazes me that after 70 years he is still a figure who seems attractive to people.

Meanwhile here the election meanders on - one week to go!!! - and even the politicians seem bored.

The Nepalese disaster has taken over the headlines (by the way what happened to the migrants crossing the Mediterranean?) and we are all agog for the royal birth.
The Sun today combined the election and royal birth in a rather bizarre front page

So we know where they stand - but then we always did since Mr Murdoch knows what he wants!!! But D Cameron as a baby - oh no!!!

EDIT and the Grauniad has an interview with D Cameron - in which he feel confident and wants to ‘let it rip’ - that seems to me to be a reference to farting a lot of hot air - if you get my meaning
