I really don’t write often enough so this is going to be a sort of a tribute to my old style of writing which is to say it’s going to be a rambling stream of consciousness which I’m not even concentrating on as I type it down to just see what comes out.
Well, it;’s warm in the office but not as warm as outside. From this you may determine two things. One that I’m in an office (which is to say I still have my job) and two that the relative temperature outside is slowly increasing as we move through spring. I am glad of this as I’m very much a summer child. I like warm weather and jumping in rivers, or the ocean. I love camping and I enjoy warm summer evenings with barbecues.
Job stuff is fine. We’re doing a lot of training at the moment but I had a really goof class , last group all passed on their first exam and even bought me a card and a bottle of bourbon to thank me for training them. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not often that you get recognition from people for being a trainer. Everyone just expects perfection and they don’t often realise the work that goes into getting a good group together.
On the plus side of this I should be hearing back about my pay review soon which will hopefully put an extra 800 pound per year in my pocket and they’ve finally introduced a bonus scheme for trainers which could net me up to an extra 150 pounds per month if all goes well. Combine these elements together and my pay could actually end up at 19k per year. This would be a brilliant state of affairs. I am still trying to break my way into teaching but it seems the only way this is ever going to happen is if I go full time back to university, which I really can’t afford to do. I guess I’ll just keep hammering away at this and try to build up my experience in other areas. I’m currently relearning html 5, PHP and SQL servers. No reason, I was just bored.
Weather is great. I wish I was outside in it today. I can just see the river tyne from my seat and it reminds me about how much I’d rather be doing most anything rather than sitting in an office waiting for an advisor to finish their call so that I can tell them they’ve failed to do it proplerly. Which they will have. Not to say that most of the advisors aren’t great - a lot of them are. I just hate it when I can hear the audio car crash happening on the phone and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.
Personal life is fantastic. Kathleen and I have been together about 6 months ago and she is utterly wonderful. We spent the last weekend crab hunting up at Tynemouth as well as walking around the market. We always have something to ramble about and she thinks I’m funny (god only knows why). I’d love to be able to tell you the best thing about her but I haven’t found anything about her that I don’t love yet. 6 months without a single argument. We talk every day; across facebook when we can’t see each other. We have a weekly date night but I usually see her 2 or 3 times a week and that still doesn’t feel enough but I’d probably just drop off the world and go live in her room if I didn’t stop myself. I have to dedicate nights to not seeing my girlfriend so that my social circle gets to see me occasionally and this feels the correct way around.
What can I tell you about her?
Kathleen is 31, quite tall and has curly hair which changes colour between black, red, pink and various shades thereof depending on how long it has been since she last dyed it. She is a member of the WI and loves craft; baking; sewing; knitting; crocheting and various other things that result in food or clothes. I’ve yet to see her combine these into food clothes but she did make me bacon roses for Valentines day. I have no idea how I’m going to top that level of romanticism. We have a lot of interests in common but she’s not a role-player; LARPer; or similar and we’re both absolutely fine with that. She plays a mean game of FLUXX and is really good at scrabble but I thrashed her at Monopoly. She thinks I’m a big girl for drinking white wine.
Kathleen has two lovely children. Elliot and Lucian who are 8 and 5 respectively. Elliot wants to be an engineer when he grows up. Lucian wants to be Sonic the Hedgehog.
Basically, I’m really very very happy.
Ok, got to go now, break over, back to work.
Later all.
