First day. in A small but passable life.

I was out of the house at 6am this morning. I had put on a new white T-shirt, my old shorts I now sleep in because my pajama pants had disintegrated, a pair of new socks and my new shoes. I walked over to the fitness center. I decided to do a bit of cardio. I turned a treadmill on. Hmmm . . . 4mph? Well crap, that just didn’t feel right. I played with some buttons before saying to hell with it. I tried the rowing machine next. Now, this I can like. Especially since I know how to row. I jacked up the resistance and it felt great. All I needed was a headwind and some chop on the water! Next thing I tried was the recumbent stationary bike. I couldn’t find the on switch. I turned the pedals a bit and the screen lit up. Nice. I hadn’t brought my reading glasses so I couldn’t see what the screen said other than my heart rate of 145. There were other things on the screen but I wasn’t sure what they were.
So, tomorrow is figuring out the huge universal weight thingy. I know I can hurt myself on that thing. This will be cool.
There was an actual real medical office type scale in there. I stepped up on it and slid the weights around. Yep, Mom’s scale is accurate. How the hell did I gain this weight? Getting old has to have something to do with it. That and having twice as much money as I usually did to spend on groceries. Whatever. I’m only twenty pounds above what I’ve been ever since basic training forty years ago.
I spent the morning at the pool. Mom’s appointment for today got pushed from 1pm to 3:45pm so I just stayed home and read the book. After the appointment we went to Jack in the Box for supper and then headed for Rummikub. I was ahead until the last round then ended up tying. A good game.
I got to talk to sis on the phone today. She doesn’t want Mom and I to come visit until she finishes chemo on the 15th of next month. Whatever.
So yeah, I’m gonna pump some iron in the morning. I did try overhand pull-ups. I used to be able to do enough I didn’t even bother counting. I just did them for a certain amount of time. Now? Don’t ask.
I should do some sit-ups. My sixpack disappeared several years ago. Pathetic.
