Hunka Hunka burning in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

And here I sit taking a break from working outside in the yard. I’ve been burning leaves and small limbs, branches and leaves. It has been a long process as I want to keep the fire from the perennials I have close to the road. Also have wooden landscape timbers in this area. Did burn them a little but not bad enough to keep them from doing their job. Took all morning and really shouldn’t have taken us (Owen is staying with me today) but it does look better. Will have to do more burning later but not today.

Have another birthday party for the youngest granddaughter this evening at 5. She wants money too so that is what she will get. There will be a break of birthday parties until July when Owen has his birthday. Then a very long break until Fall. We seem to group births in this family. lol

Mowed the yard for the first time yesterday evening. Took me FOREVER to get the mower started as the battery was dead. Used the Tahoe to jump start it…twice. Didn’t leave it changing long enough and put the truck away, the cables, etc. Went to get on and start it and nothing. Just a click click clink. Oh dang!! During all this time, my SIL was texting me and she ended up bringing down the birthday presents for the 3 grands and then my Dad showed up and of course was sure I couldn’t jump the mower, but I already had done it the first time. Anyway, he brought his tax stuff down. A box. Lots of papers. Should have started on them this morning, but got distracted by the beautiful weather and the urge to burn. Hopefully can sort before the party and get most of it done before church in the morning.

Been doing some quick sewing a couple of evenings this week. Have made several more headbands. Have gotten better and even shortened some of the too long ones and they look good. I’ve been thinking about it and I’m going to severall made up and maybe some other things, such as purses or whatever I decide do and it could be doll clothes for 18” dolls. Then when I have a good stash of everything, either posting it on Ebay or Etsy. Not sure any of them will sell but I think in my head that the more choices there are, the better chance I have of selling any of them. Who knows, I may be wasting my time but that is my tiny dream is to make and sell things. I think I could, if presented correctly. Even thought of creating a FB page but not sure how that would work out either. I’ll probably make a bunch of stuff and sabotage myself. Common I’m afraid. Won’t do anything with it. It will just be in a bag with some of the other projects in my sewing room.

Did I mention I tore up my riding mower last night after I FINALLY got it started? Nope, don’t think I did. Putting along, mowing both parts of the yard being a bit flighty on the areas but was noticing the uneven cut. Anyway, I decided to raise the deck as high as it would go and mow in the area where there are tree roots along the surface of the ground. Oops. Shouldn’t have tried that. Apparently I either ruined the blades or the thing the blades hook to. I texted oldest son and told him I’d tore up my mower. he called me and I told him what happened and he is pretty sure he can fix it. That would be great or I’ll have to buy a new one. Too old and fat to push mow both yards. Even a few years ago when my rider was sick I used the push mower and it takes forever. Too many mole runs to make it smooth for rider or push. I hate moles!!

Thought I had rented a movie for Owen on PPV, but guess my online order didn’t take. I only have until tomorrow to use my free certificate for a PPV movie AND it will not let me record it. Now that just sucks as I never sit for an hour or two watching anything on TV. Glad it is free.

Best get this finish and get some of my inside stuff done. Just remembered that I still have some laundry to get done. Shoot!! Glad I remembered now and not later.

On the position upgrades for 3 of my employees. The saga continues. I did the staffing paper and included all the documents required which was around 35 pages and sent to my boss. Friday the secretary told me he was “working on it and making changes”. Oh Lord. Usually when he does that it never get finished. Been there done that but this time our Commander is interested so I’m hopeful that he’ll send it back to me on Monday to make whatever stupid changes he wants and get it back on the train to completion.

Take care and God Bless
