Delabole Set, No 1.

A Friday trip and a new destination, Delabole is a village between Padstow and Bude, and for you Doc Martin fans just over six miles from Port Isaac. Delabole is party a linear village along the B3314 and another part running east south to a large hole in Cornwall witch has been getting larger since the 1200’s.

Now the Delabole Slate Company owns it to quarry slate, there is a viewing area with a stout fencing, I’ve no idea if the sour Doc has ever been called to an emergency down below! This is a real village, one garage two pubs, a Spar convenience shop.

Delabole Set, No 6. Some of Delabole’s homes have quite a view!

We thought there was a visitor centre, it was a showroom, for all things that can be dun with slate of course, I liked some of it and will keep it mind. I can see us coming back here again, on this trip it was just myself, my Daughter and Ziggy, we have found a dog groomer for him.

This retired Quarry Engine was the main display, a one of I think!

It is in a very small village just two miles away, the last road to the vallage is very narrow and just under a mile, the other way is over a mile and very very narrow and very few places where cars can pass! The other groomer we use for Lola isn’t a good place, the grooming is preformed closs the a large window. Delabole Set, No 11. Delabole seen from the hole.

Ziggy’s grooming parlour is away from the road, the groomer is a nice woman in her twenties, Ziggy liked her for the start and went of tail swinging, while Daughter and I went to see Delabole and its hole for two hours; as Delabole is sixty miles from home there’s nothing to go do but stay. When I retuned we were told Ziggy had been good, so we will be back next month, the return journey was partly slow as we were behind a timid Audi drive; now you don’t many of the them to the pound – a few more to the kilo …… Back home Ziggy wasn’t in a posing mood, so here he is enjoying a good chew on his bone; a sort of soother after a trying day.

Every one was pleased with the newly groomed Ziggy.
