A visit into the past in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

Snowed yesterday most all morning. Didn’t make the roads slick but was a bit depressing watching it snow pretty hard when what I want to do is be outside and plant something. I also suspect that dips in temperatures on a couple nights may have done some bud damage to some plants. Nothing I can do about it, so I move on to waiting for warmer weather.
Bought a mole killer thing. You put it over the tunnel and “set it”. You set the trap with a foot pedal of sorts but I could never get the trap to “set”. Owen was helping me and we did finally get it to push down, but not to “hook” the trigger piece. *sigh Will try again later, however suspecting there may be a problem with the trigger piece.
Went to my HS best friend’s 60th birthday party yesterday evening. Two other friends also were able to attend and we had the best time. We laughed so much and so hard. I caught her husband, her kids and grandkids, niece and the inlaws watching us go back in time right before their eyes. I saw the wonderment in some of those eyes and an awe of these “old” women laughing and talking like they hadn’t seen each other in years. What a great time we all had and what a blessing it was to enjoy a wonderful evening with friends that also have memory issues and other things we laughed with pure abandonment. I felt 18 again for just a couple of hours. Wouldn’t want to be 18 again, but it was like a time machine switch had been flipped.
I will be getting ready for services this morning shortly. Our church is discussing building a new building and some of us are supposed to be looking at other new church facilities. There are 4 stops scheduled for this afternoon and I’m not sure I’m going to go to all of them. J won’t go with me so I hate to be gone all day on a Sunday although most of the time he could care less if I’m here or not. Guess I’ll see how it works out. Need to do some housework but I seem to always need to do some housework.
One of my old classmates/friends told me last night at the party that I should be able to draw a survivor benefit from my husband since I’m still employed. She seemed very certain that I could and encouraged me to call SS on Monday. I intend to check into it as it would only be possible until I retire. Weird don’t you think?
Have a great day and hopefully warm weather and sunshine will arrive for all of us in the US soon. God Bless
