I wrote this poem back in 2011, a friend challenged me to write a poem that wasn’t dark, gory, graphic or depressing so I came up with this…Highly influenced by one of my favourite childhood authors/poets, Shell Silverstein.
THE DUOCORNESUS
I saw the Duocornesus!!!
A horse with two horns and wings!
I swear,I swear I tell you the truth,
How could I possibly make up this thing?
Bright blue eyes that smiled at you,
Wing span of a million feet long!
Pink and blue stripes along her back,
She danced and sang her song,
One silver horn in the middle of her head,
And another gold one just above,
She kicked up the sand as she danced away,
And the sand pellots spelled”love”,
Her heavenly voice returned flowers to life,
All spang forward,volcanoes blew up,
Now the villiage is gone, but I swear!
HOW CAN I MAKE THIS STUFF UP???

Why would one wish to NOT write something gothic, gory or as I might say demented..... shall we write about butterflies and fairy dust.....

I miss being able to write how I used to..I just don't miss the depression and dissociative nature at the time that was the root of my writing. if you'd like to see some of my old works, check deviantart..just found it again actually, my old name was Lone11Wolf....there's some pretty twisted stuff there :)
I'm too in touch with reality these days to really write like that anymore, sadly

Hmmm.... I guess I shall have to reevaluate my state of mind as I tend to get a bit dark at times I seem to be in a realistic framework regarding the planet around me. Maybe not...

Hehe, I laughed a little when I read your note, my husband said it sounded too wicked for a wolf.. heh..I may not be able to write like I used to but trust me, my dark side will always be there.

I don't know if I can wrap my head around your husbands thought about what might be too wicked for a wolf. I perceive a wolf as a fairly risky sort of a bedfellow capable of the spill of blood and the ruination of an otherwise enjoyable day.

Oh and what has reality ever done for you... ;o)
Kidding... actually there is enough reality foisted on us every day with jobs and responsibilities that free time is meant to be a walk down a dark path to destinations yet to be determined.... makes life a bit more edgier...
