Rites of spring in blackpropaganda

No - not the ritual dance, naked, surrounded by virgins – but taking the mower out of the garage where it has lain untouched since early November- putting in some petrol, checking the oil – priming the fuel – and pulling the starting cord – and it started first time!
This meant that I did not have to worry that I had not taken it to be serviced – it should now do this summer – so I then started the second part of the rite – the first cut of the lawns.
This a rite indulged in my many neighbours at this time of year – especially when we have had a few days of dry weather. When I took the grass to the ‘amenity centre’ you could hardly move for 4x4 vehicles, some with trailers – their owners getting rid of their grass and a lot of other stuff.
So now the ‘cutting of the grass’ will be part of the rituals of spring and summer.
The good news too is that we had a new ceramic hob fitted yesterday – and what a joy it is – but since we had to clear a lot of stuff out of the way we are re-assessing what we want to put back – hence some other stuff went to the tip.
I know rain will come along again – but what a joy to have sun on your back – and front. Especially since friends in Spain are in for sour days of rain!
By the way – is it me – or does PB keep breaking up and going down – or is it me?

Oh wow I am jealous! It is still brown here, the black currant bushes have teeny buds and the stinging nettles and ground elder are thinking of poking up (bastards!) but other than that nothing but the bulbs have started to grow yet.

Not much is sprouting here - but you have to take advantage of the weather - other peoples' camelias have been in bloom ours are just starting.

Lol. I did mine yesterday.

I've been enjoying brief periods of sunshine too, though it hasn't been very dry.

Living in an apartment means you do not have all the garden maintenance I guess

Yeah, it's done for us by landscapers.
