A Bit Thorny in Everyday Ramblings

It was only after I took this picture midday yesterday that I noticed that the iris plant is wedged between some very thorny roses. Somehow that fit my mood. It was warm and sunny then but today we return to our regular weather pattern and it is wet, windy and cold. The damp is bone chilling.
I have discovered that under Carlo’s suave and laconic gentlemanly demeanor there is at heart a bit of a brat cat. But his brother who is much more than just a bit of a brat, and has sussed out all my weak points, (if you want my attention start bapping my very expensive UV sensitive trifocals around on the floor and then find a way to hide them) is a very happy bundle of love. And a brat, did I mention that?
As a matter of fact I should be playing with them right now instead of typing this.
And I need to get ready to go teach up at the hospital.
I’ve been irritable for a few days and I wonder if I might not be coming down with something. I hope not. I hope it is a stage of grief mixed in with a big dose of seasonal allergies. The air was laden with fragrance at 6 this morning when I went out to do my stair walking.
The crescent moon was huge yellow and bright then hanging just south of where one would glimpse Mt. Hood if clouds didn’t obscure it.
Kes and Most Honorable both just pinged me to tell me that the gym, the replacement gym I had been going to since the gym across the big street closed has also closed. Sigh. I still have a 24 Hour Fitness membership that I can use but at this point I am wondering if I shouldn’t just buy an elliptical machine. I like cross training darn it! Treadmill, bike, rowing machine, weight training now and again.
Oh and there was the not totally unexpected rent increase yesterday too.
Nothing stays the same does it? Only in our imaginations.
The caregivers tonight will help give the princess in me a much needed sense of perspective.
