So…

Pidge has now been with us for a month. I’ve taken the tags off her and decided she can stay, even if she doesn’t sleep in her crib. She’s the spitting image of her big brother and me, which pleases me no end and she’s a little tank. She weighed 7lb 15oz at birth and weighed 8lb when she was weighed last Monday, she’ll get weighed again on Friday and I’m really curious as to what she’ll weigh this week. She feels heavier this week, and her little face is filling out. Breastfeeding is going fairly well. She’s feeding every 90 minutes (give or take) and likes to have a couple of goes at each boob, which is fine as she’s building up a good supply. I honestly see us having quite the breastfeeding journey. We’re almost past the cluster feeding hell of the first 6 weeks, my poor purple nipple has healed nicely after she got a little over-enthusiastic and as for the lack of sleep, well I haven’t had a full nights sleep since 2011 so that’s nothing new. She’s also been a cloth bum baby since she was born, and honestly, SO much easier than disposables. I’m trying her with milk in my system again today. I decided to have a Dominos (sans cheese) but have used their yummy garlic dip…we’ll see how she goes. She also has reflux, so a reaction to milk wouldn’t surprise me. She wasn’t overly impressed with the bouncy chair we got her (her brother loved his!!) which given that it wasn’t supporting her at all, not even with the head hugger, isn’t surprising. SO we got rid of it and bought her a Fisher Price swing, which she still isn’t thrilled with BUT she will sleep in it, which is something. She absolutely HATES her bed. Literally the second I put her down in it, she’s awake, so now we’re co-sleeping too [crunchy, crunchy]. I hate co-sleeping. I’m about 3 weeks away from a dislocated shoulder, so I’ve given her a deadline. We’re starting with this feeding routine stuff where she’s to be fed within every 3 hours (pah-ha-ha!!) so I’m utilising the swing to help with this, as she’ll sleep in it. If she’s not going to 3 hours within the next 7 days (fat chance, she’ll just about stretch to 90 minutes if I’m lucky!!) then her crib’s getting ditched and I’ll buy a co-sleeper in the same style.

I swear I’m starting to understand why some species eat their young.
