We finally had our appointment yesterday, it was a weird rollercoster of feelings. We should have done this months ago, and we TRIED, he COULD have been working, if we had only had found someone to help us within the first 3 months, he could have been working, we could have renewed the work visa, the first person we went and PAYED TO GO SEE did not tell us that.
Also, we were told that my income lvl actually WILL NOT fully affect whether or not i can be a sponsor for D, even though they DO want proof i’m working and my T3’s for the last years.
I think its more to check that i am not hiding bankruptcy issues, or lying to them about anything i think, but whatever, they can have all they need.
Downside, its gonna be around 17 months before he can work. sigh
17 more months of slogging through trying to support 2 ppl on my pay…
Well, been doing it so-so for last 6 months… just have to tighten the belts a little more i guess and push through it.
Its in the works though now, and its going to make it a bit less stressful cause he’ll be allowed to stay now without any issues..
Well, i shouldn’t say WITHOUT issues, as i said before, he can’t work, but our friend Marina who got us the appointment, also managed to talk the lawyer into dropping the tax off the amount so that saves us $750 at least.
She also helped us with the deposit amount, as we only had $1500, and they actually wanted $3500 for the retainer, but again, Marina worked her magic, so she gave the $1000, and if course our $1500 (that hurt lol).
next weekday off i have to go hunting for a few things that i need to have for our paperwork, like a marriage certificate from the gov that i didn’t realize was something we had to go apply for. (no ours is not invalid, this is just an extra piece that clarifies the gov knows we’re wed).
just so many other things to do.
