Hello there everyone!I actually wrote a long entry this morning and just as I was finishing,my computer did a restart and I lost the whole thing!I was so disgusted I nearly left it again completely, however, got my bottle back and I will try again!I did say in my last entry that I am not good at doing them and noting as well and I haven’t improved so I will do my best.I hope like anything that you are still interested in my somewhat hum-drum existence and will read it.I am happy and kept fairly busy, well, as busy as I want to be anyway.I still do my early morning walks wich are now turning into walks into the dark as we are still in daylight savings here and as the days grow shorter,we lose daylight at the morning end!I am really quite happy walking in the dark and watchng the sun rise and our litle world wake up!I sort out any worries I have and always come home refreshed and ready to carry on with the day!I wake up around 5.30am have brekky then stride off around 6 am.Halfway up the driveway,4 chooks sleep in a big shrub and as it has grown darker, they are still sleeping as I go past. There are 2 guard chooks and they pop their heads u as Taitai and I wander past.I bid them good morning and they now cluck back!Very civil!During the holiday time I would quite often come upon folk who obviously weren’t expecting anyone to be out dog walking, and as I walk past their houses, I would see guys spewing into their front gardens as a result of the carousing the night before or having a pee on the roadside.I just keep walking as the idiots scramble to get indoors in their embarassment.I pretend I haven’t seen anything and have a chuckle!I have 2 good hills on the way and a good stretch out.I meet early morning workers and exchange greetings and truckies wave and it is all very nice indeed!About the only things that bother me are the occasional drunk driver going home,I steer very clear as their driving often doesn’t, and stray dogs!Taitai is always on a leash all the way however we have been attacked once so I am ever alert.
Mostly good, especially last Saturday morning. We were about halfway home when I heard loud talking and laughing behind me.A band of youths were about 200 yards behind me.I thought they might be a bit drunk so quickened our pace!It is a light industrial area.Suddenly I realised a big black ( I think he was black,it was semi-darkness!) dog was racing towards Taitai and I.I looked for a safe place and was about to drag Taitai up a staircase when a piercing whistle cut through the air followed by one word shouted.’Heel!’The dog slammed on all his anchors and raced back to his owner!M relief was profound!!I yelled out ‘Thanks!’ and got the reply,’All good Missus!’ I really had misjudged them hadn’t I!I do the sam walk winter Winter,Spring,Summer and Autumn and ick wildflowers and watch the seasons change!Rain, hail cold, wet, whatever, and I LOVE IT!Good for body and soul!
The weather has been superb.I hear mutters of dissent from gardeners here, however, who can complain really with cloudless skies, warm sun no wind ,beautiful!might have the odd shower every now and then however mostly don’t.Occasionally on my walks I have seen runaway horses and ponies and rung owners or animal Management and once a car leave the road and dive down a bank!I rang all the emergency numbers then!
I do hope you are all well as I am and as my families are.I have been out on some occasions.Once to the Headleand Sculptures on the gulf and once to a local production of my one of my favourite Shakespearean plays,’A Midsummers Nights Dream’ which was performed outside our brand new Libray in the Courtyard.Wonderful!I have been in 2 other productions of this play and this was the best ever!6.30 on a balmy midsummers evening, no wind and sun setting.A very talented cast of new young actors and more experienced thespians and they were very faithful to the great Bard’s marvellous words. The production was traditional, the staging and props minimal, and the costumes made from re-cycled material really authentic!!I roared with laugter and Janet and Sammy who took me kept me busy asking me questions!I nearly know all the lines!Met the cast and director afterwards and heaped them with praise.A great evening!
The Sculpture on the Gulf was another Sammy,me and Janet outing! It is a biennial event over 3 kms of coastline which takes about 2 hours up hill and down dale .The exhibition is nationwide and some of the sculptures are huge! Most of the exhibits were fantastic, showing great talent and creativity, others ,it was beyond me how they got in the exhibition!Well worth attending.
Sammy(Samantha) 18 year old granddaughter has been accepted as a tutor in the Camp America programme and she leaves for the United Satates about the middle of the year.A rigourous acceptance programme of 3 months and she got the best result! As wellas being very sporty she is a top student and natural leader, very tall and beautiful and very sensible. The programme is statewide in America and includes ,Montana,Yellowstone etc.She will stay at the Camps all summer and have charge of up to 12 students so we are so proud.Janet is already suffering ‘empty nest syndrome ‘ as her first chick flies the nest! She will be fine!
Other families fine and thriving.
The entire landscape where I live is changing from pasture to a fill site and we have had to move the horses as the 11 acres will be filled. It is owned by our landlord and so far we are staying.Cross fingers! Our neighbour has plenty of land and we will graze the horses there.
Our church is undergoing a few changes too.Our usual parish riest has had a promotion and is now a Monsigneur at the big Cathedral in the City.He is Adminitrator and we have been havinga revolving door of priests! We hav ended up with a very personable and ebergetic Franciscan in his 50’s.He has had to leave the Order of Franciscan and become a Priest attached to the Cathedral so has been through a bit to be our riest.I like him immensely and get on very well with him.We also have the bonus that hewill be here on the Island 5 days a week so can take on Parish duties. He has also changed the Council which has upset a few!Not me!I was an unwieldy beast with a hierachy of Chairman etc and 13 councillors including me and we could never reach concensus! It is now 3 grous with an alternating Chair which will meet separately and only meet if urgency is required.I am Social Convener. We are having a BBQ after 5pm Mass this Saturday and the formal installation and farewll. Both priests are called Bernard, and I have been asked to write a poem in which I will use the term,’the revolving Bernies!’Must get that done soon.
I am not going to comment on the international situation apart from saying that Isis is terrifying and a huge threat.I find the subject is very divisive amongst friends and just can’t justify arguing and debating something as nasty and devastating as that threat.
Polz is very busy with her guest and also very tired!I saw her at Toastmasters last night. She had brought her visitor along and she was already worn out with him!
Ah,the pitfalls of demanding visitors even if they aren’t staying with you!!!
I am going to finish this now while all is going well with the computer and I hope you stay with me,
Lots of love,
God Bless,

I cannot comprehend how some still believe that talking to people of ISIS and thinking you can "reason" with them. You cannot reason with hate and cruelty. I do pray for them. I pray for their victims.
You do seem to have some interesting walks. I plan to get out more, but right now we have snow and mud. That's my excuse. I've got to stop making the excuses.
