don't tell it in rhyme in Words that Rhyme

everyone knows
they say all the time
to be taken serious
don’t tell it rhyme

as soon as they hear it
or see it right here
it’s all just tomfoolery
for that we are clear

sure there is Dickenson
Longfellow and Poe
those folks were all crazy
and that we all know

stories of love
or heartbreak and woe
is something of nothing
words rhyming for show

most famous of all
are written by Seuss
about green rotting food
then there’s old mother goose

so take it from someone
who would never try rhyme
because I haven’t the talent
the insight or time
