Speaking of crap!

I just got back a little while ago from my follow up appointment with the surgeon. I love when they show you pictures of your insides. It seems that my problems were a bit more extensive than just adhesions and ovarian cysts. My ovary was stuck to my bowel! One adhesion had caused a stricture in my bowel, almost causing a complete obstruction. He figures most of my pain was caused by that, and not the ovary like we thought.

Now, I have had bowel problems, but I blew it off to the fibromyalgia. I was either constipated of had diarrhea. A lot of people with FMS have bowel issues. I just thought I was one of them. I never brought it up to the doctors. I am shy about some things.

In the picture, my bowel was all distended and down right swollen above the stricture. Below looked like a worm. The cramping I'm feeling now is my bowel going back to normal.

I could have been in big trouble with this. I guess if any odd symptoms crop up, I can't really blow them off like I usually do... and people need to start listening to me when I tell them about them. I feel that my primary sometimes blows me off when it comes to my visits. I'm glad the PA is back from her maternity leave. She is more attentive.

Now I just have to recoup from the surgery and I'll be back to my "normal" cruddy feeling ;)
