Took off today in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

Many reasons I took off today. Couldn’t nail just one reason, so I just said that something came up and I wouldn’t be in today. THAT is one of the best things about having over 30 years at a job. I hadn’t taken any vacation days this year until today. I’ve only worked Tues-Thurs, but they have been doozies. Maybe I need to spell doozies, doozys. Ok, maybe not. lol The list of reasons I came up with but didn’t share except here are:
Freezing rain and sleet is on its way, however they aren’t sure when it will arrive.
My boss has ran out of chances with me (after 10 yrs)
Not feeling loyal today
Freezing rain and sleet forecasted and I didn’t want to wait all day on it on pins and needles and have to drive on highways and gravel roads covered in ice.

Ok. I’m done with the reasons although there are others.

I’m going to post pictures on another entry of some pictures I took throughout the week going to and from work. I think I uploaded 13 to Photobucket but won’t post all of them. That is entirely too many I’m sure to post.

While I was writing this my home phone rang. I saw it was Dad’s number and when I answered it the “emergency voice” started talking which makes ones heart beat much faster. It warns you that this is an emergency call and to press 5 to continue. I did but it ignored me and I’m saying “hello, hello”. I hear dad’s voice faintly which upped my heart beat and then I heard his voice much stronger and he was saying he didn’t push the button. He was ok. Wow. Maybe THAT is the reason I ended up staying home today as if J had gotten that phone call I’m not sure what he would have done. That “system” will automatically will call 911 if you don’t make it happy and I have a hard time making it happy when these accident calls are made so not sure what the outcome would be if J answered one of those calls. Guess it IS a good thing we didn’t program 911 as the 1st number called. Whew!

I filled the bird feeder this morning and the birds are so very happy. They love the dog’s food so much that I added some of it in the feeder too. They have a choice. Mixed bird feed and/or dog feed. Just saw a Red-headed woodpecker take a bite and go. This is going to be fun since I have it outside the LR window. It is almost too cold to leave the drapes open but I will for a little while. May have to shut them in a few minutes. Amazing how much cold the drapes shield from the inside.

Since I’m so distracted now watching out the window I should end this entry and relish the sights of the beautiful birds feasting out my window. I may take some pictures of them and post the brilliant colors of the male Cardinal and Blue Jay, not to mention the Red-headed woodpecker. Almost as exciting watching them as receiving the First Alert call from Dad’s gizmo.

Take care, stay safe, keep warm, and most of all God Bless each of you.
