Today is Wednesday. Today is Wednesday! That means in a week… well, in a week as of the morning- I’ll be starting my MBE for real… but as of the afternoon? I’ll be done with the bar exam! Hopefully for good, but at the very least for 5 months! So excited for this to be over. So excited to try to finally move on… I mean, I got married and immediately started law school which led to the bar exam. I want to get this stage of my life going; find a real job and start living instead of making sure to make time to study and struggle. And hopefully, get this marriage working!

Today… was cold. It seems all over the country, winter is kicking everybody’s ass. I have friends in Georgia who suffered a massive power outage due to ice. The Mayor of Boston has had to ask people to stop jumping out of their windows to snowboard! (STORY) And here? Temperature Proper is single digits; Temperature Wind-Chill is -10 F, or -23 C. Cold. alt text
And of course my desk is in quite literally the coldest part of the apartment. So, wrapped in a bevy of blankets, I tried to shiver through some question work. Not surprisingly, as is a default for me in Too Cold or Too Hot, my body shut down and sleep came. I have to defend myself here, I fought tooth and nail to prevent that outcome! I relocated to a warmer (but less comfortable) location, I brewed a hot tea… but it got even colder outside, so all I did was (at best) break even. And a tiny little nap of going back to sleep spontaneously erupted.

When I awoke… it was GO TIME! Criminal Law & Procedure MBE practice! 140 questions, 56% correct. Followed by an Evidence essay prompt. I did take a few extended video game breaks today. It was nice getting to play video games again and taking time to “come up for air” helped me feel a lot better than simply pushing myself more and more. Of course… it did not get warmer throughout the day. So very cold.

This whole process is starting to take a toll. I find it ever more difficult to push on. I know, there are less than 5 days until it all starts and then it will be over quickly. But… I still feel like there is so much more to do, so much more to memorize and so much more to try to cram into my head. Oh, I’ll attack the test with as much confidence as I can but… I just wish that the exam wasn’t such a… well, intentionally impractical exam. No one has ever scored a perfect score. The average score is 141. Out of 200.

For lots of reasons that you’ll all understand (I hope) I haven’t had much time to respond to notes individually. I do want to say THANK YOU to all of you who note. I know I thanked you for your support last entry, but you have all also given me some wonderful advice and I wanted to thank you for that, too!

WOAH! Looking for averages of the bar exam, I ran into THIS article. It looks into the fact that the mean scaled score from the July 2013 exam was almost 3 points higher than the mean scaled score from the July 2014 exam. Of course, the organization that is required to GIVE the exam has stated that students are just “less capable” but… I think that is rather self-serving and ass-covering of them.
