Projects in At the foot of the hill

The trouble with projects like the one I wrote about the other day is there is never any good stopping place.

So far, I have emptied two big boxes, and taken scores of pictures out of frames. I am still looking for a box of snapshots from when I was a kid and my kids’ wedding albums.

The search involved unloading the closet in the guest room/office where I have 4 big tubs of yarn stacked in front of our four-drawer filing cabinet. The room, already stacked with the boxes I’d emptied, got real crowded with the tubs, but I managed to get to the file.

First things I found in the file drawers were the art supplies I bought a couple of years ago… Since I am thinking of trying to paint again, I pulled that big pile of stuff out and put it…where? Oh, just stacked it on the desk for now… Then I thought it would be a good time to sort out old files… A couple of hours later, I was ankle deep in folders with piles to re-file and piles to throw away and a stack of pictures that had been stuck haphazardly into folders. Into the box I’ve been tossing pictures with them. I wanted to save the folders themselves, so sorted out what I thought I might need to keep and stuffed the contents into a garbage bag, to make another project of shredding some other day.

Then it was to the file drawer in my desk to remove 2014 papers and get those folders sorted into the ones I was keeping in the file cabinet…

But the pictures I was searching for were not stashed in the filing cabinet. I’m running out of places to look. The next step will be another search of the storage locker downstairs.

I have decided to organize the storage locker while I’m at it. That area has been a disaster from the get-go. Lots of stuff just loose in there. Aha! I have two big empty boxes… but will just stuffing stuff in boxes solve my problem? I don’t think so. It would be better to have smaller boxes with some sense of organization in the contents… I asked Papa to take me to Home Depot this afternoon and see if we can find some cheap, easy-to-assemble shelves that we could put in there and get rid of all the big boxes. Maybe pick up a couple more tubs.

If I’m going to get very far with this interruptive project, I’d better get myself down there to the locker room and get serious.

Still days and days away from sorting pictures which is what I started out to do… If you are looking for me, I’m not sure you’ll find me… I’m buried!

I did get the closet cleaned out and space to stack the art supplies. The room is now passable (just barely).
