Wistful viewing …… in The odd entries from life …….

I have always enjoyed Mark Williams work bee it be on television or a larger screen, he was in all the Harry Potter films, some think of him as a comedy actor but I think he is more than that; recently he has been the lead actor as Father Brown.

The BBC’s ‘Father Brown’ series is now into it’s third year, yet it is only recently I have come upon this little gem, it is shown at two fifteen in the afternoon, two reviews I’ve seen wonder why it is not on a Sunday evening!

The Father Brown stories have been set in various areas and time, much like Sherlock Holmes who as sleuthed from the Victorian times, in the 1940’s against Nazis and recently in today’s London.

The BBC series is set in the 1950’s Cotswolds, and the setting seems to fit nicely, Mark Williams Father Brown is a joy to watch, as a sleuth he is always the parish priest of St Mary Catholic Church, and not always welcome at the seen of crime.

It is good to see programming that tells a story in a different way, I watch Broadchurch and enjoy it as I also like Father Brown in its nostalgic setting of the 1950’s England, even if it is a wistful version of that period!
