Dear diary,

After a long break from blogging I am back with avengence. Disappointed to find the site of my old blog is slowly dying a death which lead me to this place.

Perhaps for the best, a true fresh start and new leaf.

I write this sat looking over the Sound drinking good coffee and watching the sun try to come out.

I have been off work sick for just over a month now due to a flare of FMS. Aside from the odd trip to get groceries this is the first trip out of the four walls that comprise home. So nice to be out, even if I feel nearly ready for a nap now.

Over the last few weeks I have been writing entries in my head so undoubtedly a lot of rambling will come out in the not too distant future.

As I have been waiting for tablet to load and connect to phones data feed I have been people watching and am shocked by the lack of poppies. In this of all places I am surprised. I wonder if I am old fashioned. I get that the 'world wars' were a long time ago but conflict in Afghanistan continues and this a town that has seen its troops do several tours of duty.

Perhaps there is a feeling, with a marine condemned of murder, that we can no longer take pride in our armed forces. I hope not. Listening to Radio 4 last night i heard one comentator describe there being a widespread loss of 'moral compass'. I don't think so. I think one young man did a very bad thing. To tar all with the same brush is idiotic. As for the murder, it shouldn't have happened and it is rightthat it saddens people. I hope that they will also remember that wars makes monsters of men, it is a dirty business.

Right the sun has given up and the wind has picked up. Fingers are cramped and cold so I think it is time to pack up and go.

Fi.

Tarring people with the same brush is seemingly what we (I probably mean the media) do: all muslims are terrorists, all blacks are criminals, all Rumanians are scroungers...Obviously I'm saying they're not at all (that's a note for random note-nazis who love getting the wrong end of the stick) War is always dirty. You'd like to hope that some time in the future we'll never ever have any more. Fat chance...
