A year since The Dairymaster finally gave up the farm and let opendiary opendie its opendeath and a year here on the prosebox. It’s not the same as the old place, it’s a lot less conducive to interaction between diarists in a way I can’t consciously explain but it’s pretty good and here I am.

I’ve averaged about a post and a half a day. About four new poems a week, even if I only generate two or three poems a month worth trying publish or read out more than once. In terms of short-form material, I write a lot and then go back and sort later. It works for me.

I’ve generated a little over a parody song a week, though, again, maybe only one or two a month are good enough to visit more than once.

The bulk of this journal… a little over half… has been my “barrages” where I collect stray jokes, notions and nuggets of writing ideas from twitter and facebook to save for later. They’re not always good but they’re always good writing exercise. Every once in a while, they’ll lead to something more, it’s nice. I’ve averaged about five a week in terms of barrages of at-least eight ideas. I have no idea why I picked the arbitrary requirement of eight but it seems to work for me.

I’ve also read a lot of great journals by good friends and interesting strangers! I don’t leave as many notes as I used to but if I am following you, I am reading most of your stuff and it is rad. It is rad!

My first year of prosebox has not been the social interaction tool that opendiary was but it has been a wonderful incubator for rough drafts of ideas and has aided me in publishing my first short poetry collection. Which is pretty cool!

Thank you friends! Thank you people who run this little corner of the internet.

Here’s to many more.
