N’s parents decided a few years ago to get labs and breed them, then sell the puppies. A couple years ago they got Maggie and Rocko. Maggie is a black lab and Rocko a yellow.

ANYWAY, they had puppies last Thursday. 10 in all, 4 yellow, 6 black.
So… PUPPY pictures!

Puppies, 1 day old. They each weighed about 1 pound. They are born with eyes and ears closed. Honestly, they were super adorable but a little freaky looking - very pink and wriggly.

1 WEEK OLD!

OMG so much freaking cute! I can’t even… and the noises they make!!

We haven’t decided if we will get one yet. We both love animals and we are open to the idea of getting a dog soon, but have a few changes to make first (would like a fenced yard, also would need to adjust our schedules so we can spend more time with puppy since they need lots of socialization.

In other not-puppy-related news, my sister and her husband moved to Sioux City the weekend of the 10th. They closed on their house they were selling yesterday. They are renting a place in Vermillion right now, which is about 35 miles from where Andy is working, so he has a bit of a commute. Amber hasn’t found a job yet, and is looking, as well as keeping the household running. My mom, who plans to sell her house soon and move closer to them (can’t keep her from her grand babies!) has been sticking around Watertown for the most part, getting her house cleaned out and ready to put on the market. Last Sunday N and I ran down to Watertown to pick up some stuff, including a washer and dryer set from Amber and Andy’s house. They are much nicer than the ones we had (our $120 set from a coworkers sister). Basically, I have been saving $50 a month since we moved to our house, putting it into a separate account.

We were saving it towards a new washer and dryer set since the used set we had was good enough to get the job done. $40 a month was about what we spent on laundry when we rented, so it seemed reasonable to keep taking it out of the budget. This “new-to-us” set is just a couple years old and is pretty fancy. Nate LOVES it. The old used set the dryer didn’t have a settings knob so we had to improvise with a vice grip, and you never knew where you were setting it, sometimes it ran for 20 minutes, sometimes an hour. The washer had a bad lid sensor so you had to like, slam it shut and then put something heavy like a loaded laundry basket, on top of it so it would actually start the cycle. Otherwise you would come down an hour later and the tub was full of water and your clothes were just hanging out in the washing machine soup.

We’re still busy working on household projects. The bathroom project is coming along quickly now, we have been working on it on weekends. We will be insulating and drywalling this weekend. Today my goal is to do some touchup painting, paint closets, and finish cleaning our spare room. The spare room was a dumping ground for everything when we moved. It got all the boxes. I have been working on it for 15-20 minutes a day, dealing with it little by little. I also need to work on our kitchen cabinets more.

Not much else to say…
