Wow, what a day.

Organizing my books continues. I’ve been working on and off since this morning. I am getting closer to finishing.

I will try and start again tomorrow morning after I had coffee and some breakfast. I know I can’t finish in the morning, but I am excited that I will be able to finish this week. Then, I can start with the books in the living room.

I haven’t been sleeping well for three weeks. I am pretty much sleep depraved. What I decided to do was take sleeping pills so I can get a good night’s rest.

This is what I posted about MLK Jr. Day on my Facebook status:
Good Evening, Friends:
MLK Day is a time to reflect. Our country has been through a lot concerning race relations. I am sure many, if not all, the founding fathers felt conflicted somewhere deep down inside about having slaves when they agreed that all men are created equal and should pursue the pursuit of happiness.
Martin Luther King, Jr. and the rest of the soldiers (male, female, all kind of ethnic groups) decide to fight for those very words. As I think about all that has happened…Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Oscar Grant, etc. Dorothy Dandridge, Pearl Bailey, Ethel Waters....

I think about the legacy you and me have to keep pushing on. These younger kids…they need to know that in order for matters to get better, we have to discuss what is going on in our society and BE HONEST with what is going on in our society. Only then, we can promote great change just like Martin and the rest of the soldiers did.

So, let’s not forget our past for it does affect our present. It affects our decisions. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the rest of our nation who agreed that ALL MEN WERE CREATED EQUAL…fought so I could have the rights that I can have. So, I can have the freedom to write what I am posting now.
Cheers,
S

Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of the many inspirational figures from the Civil Rights Movement. He was a great leader and great strategist when it came to getting blacks’ civil rights. His legacy continues as we all have to continue to fight racial injustice.

Thank you, MLK, Jr. for all your hard work and dedication for letting people know that all of us are created equal and are after the pursuit of happiness.

Cheers,
S
