MLK Day - Pictures of sewing projects in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

I’ve been contemplating. Scary huh? Yep a little. I was so excited, joyful, and happy when ED came up and I could begin writing here. My waiting for it was over. I had, in my need to write and to stay connected to some of the OD friends, I opened a diary in Prosebox. I wasn’t too fond of the format of PB and it took me a long time to get used to it, but used to it I became. Strangely enough I became fond of the PB format over time. Before that fondness came into my being, Easy Diary was born. Oh happy day!! I so expected to have all my old OD friends jump ship and come to ED which was better than OD and different from PB. I was living and thinking in a fantasy world. I have been cross-posting entries or copy/pasting entries into both formats. I am very sad to say that I have many more friends in PB than in ED that write, read, and note on a regular basis. I do understand that I have made many new friends on PB that were previous OD writers that I hadn’t had the pleasure of getting to know and that is a major bonus to PB. I am getting to know people that I have grown a major fondness and friendships, such as they are online, growing with each entry they leave. I guess the whole purpose of this paragraph is to express my sadness over so few readers and noters on ED compared to PB. I never ever would have imagined that could or would happen. I have many more readers and noters on PB. I just feel bewildered by that fact.
I totally respect and am grateful to both DMs for opening up forums for diary writing. I never in a million years expected to grow a bit fonder of the PB format. I appreciate that when I go to PB, there is an instant count of new diary entries and how many comments have been left on mine. What I don’t care for is that it shows every single entry from a fav and at times that list can be extremely long. Not sure why I don’t care for that, but I don’t. Maybe cause I don’t care to know that I’m behind. AND that if I want to go back to catch up on a fav, that “list” demands my attention, or it will stay there forever in my Bookmarks. The good and the bad of each forum is not a deal breaker for me. I had all intentions that after some time I would close one diary and just stick with one. I did not, however, expect the diary I would close to be ED, as I was confident that all my favs would migrate to ED eventually. Boy, was I wrong!! I can’t bear the thought of closing my ED diary nor can I bear the thought of losing touch with old and new friends on PB. As much as I dislike having two diaries, the ability to copy/paste from one diary to the other will keep both diaries active. However, if you have a diary on both also, you most likely will be subject to the same as I and click on my new entry in PB to remove it from your bookmarks, and on ED to get the “bold” title to disappear. LOL If these were the only problems or disruptions in life, huh?
Ok, sorry, just had to share the above to get it out of my mind. Now on with life.
Yesterday’s motivation regained some ground. Not a lot, but some and that was better than Saturday for sure. I finally got the laundry done, cleaned up the kitchen, put the flannel sheets on Js bed and washed all of his bedclothes including the mattress pad. I called my sister and told her I might come up for a bit and would she like to ride with me to browse the Goodwill store. She said yes and yes so I put another load of clothes in the dryer and went to sisters. I visited a bit and then she and I went to Goodwill and a couple of others stores in the area that did NOT include Walmart. YAY!! When we got back to her house I dropped her off and headed back to my house. My cell phone rang and it was her and her husband was making Gumbo for supper and asked if J and I would like to come back later for supper. I said we would, as I have turned them down on every previous time they’ve invited us for supper. I wasn’t sure J would like the Gumbo and wasn’t sure I would either, but you don’t know unless you try it. Oh my it was delicious!! I had BIL not add the rice to J’s bowl as he does not like rice and he ate his 1/2 portion. I had BIL give him only a small ladle serving since I wasn’t sure if he would eat it or not. He did eat it but refused 2ds which is fine. J and I need to lose weight so badly. I am working on both of us, but sometimes it just seems there is no progress being made. Hopefully there will be soon.
J and Jack played the xbox after we ate and some times sister would help both boys to get past certain obstacles in the game. It was enjoyed by them and I insisted that we leave to come home at 8:30. Geeze that is a late night for me. lol Had a good time and it was good to get out of the house for something other than going to work or church or grocery shopping.
This morning I begin cutting fabric for the quilt. Not sure how the pattern will turn out, but I usually never do but have an idea in the beginning. That idea can change many times before the project is complete so it will be interesting to say the least. I did discover I do not have as much dark solid fabric as I thought, so I will probably need to buy more navy blue fabric. I need to watch the weight of the fabric as that can be a deal breaker as far I’m concerned for a quilt.
I made a little hot pad yesterday morning to get my motivation motivated and I guess it worked. That and the purse I made seems to have given me the push needed. I really like my new purse that I made and would like to make another with the same amount of pockets. I would do the next one a little differently as far as steps in construction but pretty close to the same style. I’ll end this entry will pictures of the last few weekend projects. The first ones are insulated dish carriers and yes a cake size pan can be carried although it doesn’t encompass the pan. Take care and God Bless
Since I had to wait for Photobucket to upload the pictures I stated on a project of cleaning J’s room. Oy Vay!! His TV has went crazy with lots of lines and I couldn’t fix it so it is now time to move the TV that had been in the LR that I had put in the guest room into his room. The problem? His entertainment center isn’t big enough for the “new” TV. His kuput TV was 27” and the spot in the entertainment center was built for 27”. Thus, we will have to rearrange his room and move furniture. Again, Oy Vay!! J has entirely too much stuff. Some junk, lots of games, clothes, shoes, boots, you name it he has it. Not on the plan for today, but plans change. And BTW, my son is lazy!! I have a big hamper for his dirty clothes, which he shouldn’t have still left in his room but does, and a plastic trash can which is normally kept in the garage. Humph. It is going to be a long and frustrating day for both of us and then Owen arrives at 5:30 so his mom can attend some kind of … the hostess is selling something party. She promised to be back by 8:30. So now on to the pictures......
