Haircut in Adventures in paradise

I got my haircut today. I always have trouble deciding where to go, but I only ever go to the chain places that tend to be a bit cheaper. I also hardly ever book an appointment for one (although last time I sensibly did so) so it’s just luck if they can fit me in for one when I walk in and ask. I guess it goes with my spontaneous lifestyle.

I did however decide to walk into a Hairhouse Warehouse, which is still fairly new in Queens Plaza and a really pretty girl served me and said that she could only do me in about 10 minutes time if some other woman doesn’t show up lol. So I gave her my details and walked off again. I wasn’t really hoping she’d call me though, only because she quoted me $45 for a men’s cut.
COUGH You’ve GOT to be joking me. I walked off knowing that I was going to ask elsewhere haha.

I went back to a place where I’ve been a couple of times before, Price Attack, where I knew their prices were at least decent haha. There was no-one in there, so I asked and sure enough one of the girls fit me right in and I finally got my long-awaited haircut. I just wanted a tidy-up really. My hair grows way too long, too fast, it looks disgusting (anyone who’s seen my Instagram photos lately can attest to that) and it’s so uncomfortable when I start sweating in the stockroom at work, not to mention always having to sweep it out of my eyes.

So she did a good job. I managed to crack a few jokes to her here and there about how I no longer looked like a Redneck Bogan and that I could actually see where I was walking now. She did perk up a bit and talk for a while about how she cuts her step-dad’s hair, so that was good. I don’t like talking at the best of times, but when someone is taking a good half-hour to shampoo and cut your hair, sitting there quietly is just rather awkward, so I at least try to make the effort. She was lovely though. I really liked her, and she didn’t do too bad of a job on my hair. I’m not overly fussy though. I only really dislike haircuts if they make my fringe TOO short or if they expose a huge ugly mole I have on the side of my head (thankfully that’s never happened, although if I end up going bald in my older years, it’s gonna be an eyesore that’s for sure haha). I was really concerned about it a few years ago but I got a doctor to check it for me and she said it was nothing, basically palming it off. I literally thought it was going to kill me back then haha.

So I took a pic of it. I’m not putting it on any social media however besides here. I tend to share a hell of a lot of pics to just myself so that I can link them either to Open Diary (RIP), here, or a forum. i just don’t need my friends or family seeing them, but hey I want to document how it turned out today, and it’s always nice to get rid of the huge mop I had on my head earlier in the day.

So yeah, it’s nothing special. Just me, with shorter hair. It is still really bland and I do have a few lots of colour in my bathroom drawer that I could put into it, but I feel it’s been nice just being natural for around a year and a half now. I do think I look a bit more edgy with the blonde foils or streaks in my hair however, but I always looked at older guys with streaks when I was younger and thought they couldn’t quite pull it off, so now that I am that age, I get self-conscious about it also. I mean, it’s not like I’m 40 yet, but 31’s getting there, right? I’m not trying to defy age by putting colour in my hair, I just think I look better with it. So maybe I’ll put it in, maybe I won’t. It’s been so long since I put colour in my own hair that I’ve probably forgotten how to and it’ll turn out a mess. Tabatha would be ashamed.
Oh and this haircut only cost me $27. The other place can go fuck their $45! i bought some treats on the way home with the money I saved.
