I went in to Truro yesterday, I felt I needed a new ½’’ flat brush for today’s Acrylic Class, I have one of those of course; but the bristles were a little soft. The Park & Ride Bus stops right in front of Truro’s Art Shop, I spent ten minuets walk round the brush isle.
They have brushes for all the paints I know, there are ½’’ flat brush for Acrylic paint from £2.50 to ‘are you serious’ I tried several bushes against the palm of my hand to gage the stiffness of the bristles, I found one that felt right for £7 and something less 10%; yes there give a discount to us students!
We are half through January now, and our weather is trying a versus mix of cold – mild and dry – wet, other wise this winter is much better than last’s January weather. At home we have two Camellia bushes, pink and white, as I walked down Prince’s Street; and in front of Princes House there weretwo twelve feet Pink Camellia bushes; our are they Camellia Tree’s!
Even the fallen blooms add to the look of Princes House’s look!
I had a look round Marks & Spenser’s, but I’m still off shopping after the Christmas spend, I could do with some new shoes; next time – perhaps! So I walked up Lemon Quay.
This street contuses the lemon theme, yes this Lemon Street, last year when Truro Streets were dug up the Park & Ride Bus’s came down Lemon Street, as we took this rout into the city I was taken in the by the old houses it that area! I intend to walk up that long incline, at the top I shall stop to breath again; once refreshed I shall walk down again with stops to take photographs.
Today’s Acrylic Class went well, we started with a talk about technique, paints and brushes, I was happy about what Judie said about choosing a 1/2’’ flat brush! We had the same still life image we had on Tuesday’s Watercolour Class, I wasn’t very happy with the watercolour painting; I need to have another at that one! My today’s Acrylic painting is not quite finished, but I am happier with this work in progress; and soon I well show it finished.
Work in Progress ….
Like the Watercolour I intend to make a larger Acrylic canvas painting.
Ho Yes, the Daffodils! On my trip home I noticed a cluster of Daffodils in flower on a grassy corner, they are on a sharp corner with two narrow roads joining there, not a good place to park for photography; the nearest parking spot is half a mile away.
What ever the weather is doing it is nice to see Daffodils out in mid January>
