The New and Improved Plan in Still Listening to Spirit

The doctor from Juneau called me today to check in. Matt is his name. He told me that even though I have signed up for health insurance which will kick in 2-1-2015, I should get to Anchorage as soon as possible. He explained, in case I missed it, that this is my pancreas with a growth on it. He also pointed out that the people in Anchorage are generous wiwth their time and talents and I would fall into good hands there.

I called Lynne next. She further explained that this was nothing to mess around with and I should get cracking. Lynne said days sor weeks could make the difference between life and death if it was cancer.

So, I went downstairs and dropped the “C” bomb on Bill. Told him I wsas going to Anchorage as soon as I could.

Air fare for a ticket from Juneau to Anchorage round trip is $662.xx That’s with the 30% discount an Alaska resident gets if they are a member of the 49 Club, which I am with Alaska Airlines. I will fly out of Juneau Monday. Ferry to Juneau Sunday leaves here at 4:45p and 8 or so hours later I will be in Juneau at the Super 8 for the night.

Ducks in a row there. As to doing this alone, it looks like I will continue to have to be my own best friend. Traci said she couldn’t come because her husband will be out of town next week. I didn’t even think that she should come.... She said, what about Dear Linda, or Nita? Crazy? Maybe

I looked into air fares. Wichita to Anchorage $1227.xx, Kansas City to Anchorage? $540 round trip! WTH? They obviously have seats they want to fill on short notice.

Tomorrow I expect a call back from Matt, or I will call him Saturday, his office is open 1/2 day on Saturday. Lynne said I should have himi do the referrals and such. Good idea, especially since the Clinic is still understaffed.

I am in quite a bit of pain tonight. Not enough to take anything that will ‘bind me up’, but enough that I am heading down to take another hot shower as it does help.

Keep me in your prayers you all. Dear Linda was sorely tempted to come to Anchorage with me but she has so many commitments with a job and other things, she reluctantly and apologetically declined. Air fare too much for Nita from NC< I didn’t even call her.
