And now for the excitement yesterday. It was a public holiday so not many people around. On our block there are very few places occupied - not the time when large numbers come out to Spain.
So it is all quiet, SW is resting and I am doing a crossword when the doorbell rings. The bell is at the front gate so no one actually enters your garden until asked.
There is a fellow outside the gate who was, looking for someone who spoke English - he was Dutch with an apartment here on the block and had been burgled earlier in the day. He spoke goodish English, and thought the taxi driver from the airport the night before had given info to people. They had lost passports, money, computers - and he was able to pay 60 euros for an interpreter for the police by getting money from an ATM - but now could not get enough cash to get the locks changed - and needed a passport to book into the hotel next to us.
He was agitated - and got more so - but never specifically asked for money - and we did not offer. Eventually he moved off - We saw no other people - and had not seen him before yesterday.
Yep - it looks like it was a scam - and he thought he might get 60 euros I guess. Our friends knew nothing about break-ins and said we did the right thing by being hard! Just shows you - and it all so likely - we have had break ins around us at odd times and we are very careful about security.
If the main thing is trust no one then you feel sorry fir those who might need real help. You live and learn - and a disclaimer if some spellings are wrong - blame the Kindle!
