Well here I am off work again. I needed to see how many hours I had to take before the end of the week and was pleasantly surprised to see 2 1/2 days worth. I used 4 hrs yesterday afternoon to attend the visitation and funeral of my friend’s dad. She seemed very very glad that I arrived several minutes before the official visitation began. She thanked me and told me over and over how much she appreciated me being there. I know the next few months will be hard for her as she has been using so much of her time taking care of and seeing about her dad. I will try to keep a check on her and maybe even get her to come to my house on occasion to visit and maybe go out to eat every once in awhile. That is much harder than you’d think to pull off as we now laugh about having lunch together. That just never seems to work out and has become an almost standing joke.

I ended up test driving the 09 Tahoe yesterday and drove it too the funeral. I like it a LOT and now own it. Today I took off to get all the legal stuff completed to make it official. Will get the title from the previous owner and proof of insurance in a couple of hours and then head to the license bureau to pay the sales tax and get plates for it. Oh and I mustn’t forget to get the inspection sticker. My mechanic checked it out in detail yesterday morning and discovered that the AC wouldn’t work. I texted the owner and after a lot of trial and error an a google search, we discovered that since it has “climate control” it will not kick the AC on when the temps are cold outside. Makes sense but the mechanic said he’d never heard of that before. She (prev owner) promised that if it wouldn’t work when the temps warmed up outside they would take care of it. I believe it will work and this 09 Tahoe has so many bells, whistles, buttons, and perks that I am not surprised at all with the AC not coming on when it is 12 degrees outside.

I have my phone connected to the Tahoe now and it will take me some time to get the phone numbers programmed but I can take phone calls through the radio now. Makes me much more secure when the cell goes off while I’m driving. I don’t do phone while driving because of the effort in holding, dialing, and talking. heehee Now I can. It also has remote start, which just thrills my heart, even if I will keep it in my garage, it will make getting off work much more comfortable when the temps are blue cold or the heat index is horrid.

Very little money left in savings, however, there was a bigger balance after I withdrew the money for the Tahoe and to cover the taxes and license. It shouldn’t take me as long to rebuild the savings account as it has thus far. At least that is my plan. I received a time in grade raise at work which the increase is just under $2000 a year, but I’ll take it and put it in savings. Every little bit helps and Lord knows, little bits do start to add up.

Need to pick up the old Tahoe today and bring her home. I will keep it for while and do not plan to transfer the plates. I can use it for a back up vehicle for me, or for the big kids, at least for a while. A’s car is getting worn out and even though my old Tahoe has some issues, it could get her to work and home in a pinch.

Time for a shower and to get ready to spend more money. It’s like a snowball rolling downhill. Once you start, it doesn’t stop until it hits the wall.

Have a safe and warm day if you are lucky enough to have these cold temperatures. Hope all of your keep your electricity and stay inside if you can during the coldest parts of the day.

God Bless
