Feeling Better in Days of My Destiny

Feeling much better today. I had dinner with Suzanne last night. It was definitely needed. I love that she is new to this area too, but also not too close for comfort. She's in the next town, which keeps our friendship fresh. So instead of bumping into her everywhere I go (like all the other people I've met in this town of one thousand people), I see her when we both PLAN to, and we are so much richer for it, because we know we really truly WANT to see each other.
My friendships here feel bland at times. I have come to learn that you can never really say too much or trust anyone too much in this town. Not because I've been burnt or anything, but just because... that's just how it is in small towns. Somebody told me that when I first moved here and I thought, what a load of crap, everyone should just be their true selves. But honestly..... two years down the road I can see that.... there's never really room to be your true self.
It's an interesting time in my life.
Anyway so I've had (slightly) more energy and focus for L today. I also went along to a Mums'n'Bubs coffee at the local café that started last week. Only one woman went last week, so this week a few of us made more of an effort, as the organizer (manager/owner of the café) was disappointed. We need to show her our support. Anyhow it was nice enough. Nice to get out of the house. I wore a nice, knee-length, spring dress and heels for a change. I also straightened my hair. I put dark eyeliner on. I was feeling depressed this morning so I felt that was enough make-up. When I got there, one lady didn't even recognise me because of the straight hair (my hair is naturally straight, just not dead straight) and a few others commented on how good I looked. Kim even said, "Ooooh!!! Where have YOU been today, miss??" with a smile on her face. I was like, 'Nowhere!!!! Here!!!!" and we both laughed. She's not from here originally either, so then she realised I was actually dressed up for the occasion itself, lol. We both laughed. (You NEVER dress up for anything here.)
I told the newest Mother-of-2 about my fitness test the other night. She used to be a fitness guru, working out 6 days a week. She's really unhappy with her body at the moment (she looks friggin hot, by the way), but it's because she used to be a firm, fit and toned size 8. I don't know what she is now... . maybe a slightly flabby size 10...... she still looks firmer and more toned than any of US, lol. So anyway I told her how I've upgraded from 2 push ups to 4 in six weeks. I asked her how many sit-ups she can do, what her max is. She said that years ago when she was quite fit, she had to do something like 250 sit-ups in around 2.5 minutes. I'm thinking..... stuff that!!! Sheesh!!! Obviously they had to do them really fast. At my Battle fitness assessment 6 weeks ago, we had to do sit ups at a cadence, meaning you had to be up on the beep every time. The beep is consistent so you get into a rhythm, but it's not fast (not 250-in-under-3-mins fast!!!). Six weeks ago, my max was 55 sit-ups. This week it was 93. Can you believe that?!?!?!?!?!? I have improved that much in 6 weeks!!!!!! I was pretty damn happy about that :) :) Especially as the cadence test only beeps 100 times!!! LOL. I thought my max would be 70, but when I saw I was getting closer to 90 and everyone was cheering me on, I thought, yep let's go for 100! But at 93, my hands automatically gripped my knees at the top of the sit up, which meant my whole body stopped! Lol. Oh well. Still, I've NEVER in my whole lofe done 93 sit ups like that! (When I was getting ready for my wedding I used to do 100 sit ups every morning before work, but not systematically or rhythmically if you know what I mean.) So I'm pretty proud of myself.
Better go do rest time with L.
