We have a Cornish Soft Day to start of our new year 2015, the sky is a spread of light grey clouds with a chance of rain, and there is a wind blowing down the valley swaying the winters naked trees; now we need to decide if we are going out!

As walking weather goes today doesn’t draw one out, but tomorrow is just the first ordinary day of the year, just treading the sand on Perranporth’s beach is to make this special day special. I wonder how many are out there, doing the New Year sales! After Christmas I’m king of shopped out for a while.

By midday it was still dry so we went out, we parked in the back car park, Lola is not impressed walking through Perranporth to the beach, so our walk was slowed by Lola stopping to sniff; and every stop sniffed needed extended noise assessment.

We somehow managed to be on the beach at the best time, no rain but some more sunlight, the car park on the front was full. The tide was coming and was already passing the Chapel Rock, there were a few people up there, watching the tide close round the rock a group up there started going down …..

On the sand just a few feet from the approaching tind stood a single trainer, if it’s your I last saw it ridding the surf up the beach!

Lola had a good walk, meeting and greeting no end of Westies, two were local and known to her, one young girl made a fuss of her, and would have fussed her again but Lola was looking for adults for some fuss!

Twice I had to walk up the beach with one eye on the tide rolling along behind me, it seemed every seventh or ninth wave just keep rolling up the beach, Lola knows about these fluke waves and knows to lead the retreat ‘this two with me today need encouraging’ ‘I’ve got wet with them before!!’

As we stared back towards the seafront, the sky was looking rather dark, there was a slight feel of rain but it didn’t come to anything, so we kept heading towards to the new’ish bridge over the two streams.
