Monday.

A pretty good day for checking items off the list(s).

  1. Found my cremation garment. Jim found it upstairs in his room. It was at the bottom of a basket of his important papers. How it got there is a mystery. But I’ve got it on with now and that’s a good thing because our balmy December has disappeared and it is now COLD!

  2. Washed the car. We were early to the insurance appointment. Awkwardly early because it was too much to be early but not enough to really do anything. But .. guess what? We saw an automatic car wash behind one of the nearby Kwik Trips. (They are Kwik Trips in Wisconsin and Kwik Stars in Iowa because Iowa already had Quick Trips. The Quick Trips objected to sharing their names with Kwik Trips so the Iowa Kwik Trips had to change their names to Kwik Stars. I’m sure you’re all grateful for that explanation. You are very welcome.) Car interior still needs to be cleaned. Dash is dusty enough to ..... anyone want to supply a simile/metaphor?

  3. Took the family charity collection into the bar that is collecting for a good cause. I’ve been wanting to write deferring Christmas gifts to charity ever since the woman who took my blood the day before Thanksgiving told me about her and her family’s experiences doing that. She was a remarkable woman and I left the blood gathering in a high state of inspiration. I’m not sure we followed through as well as we should have but we did all end up putting some money in a kitty and deciding on a local benefit for a local man who has a serious disease. The benefit was over the weekend and it had been held at a local bar - thus I took the money to the bar. I was assured it was not too late to donate. So we did.

  4. Got my insurance changed over from Medicare to the area megamedical’s HMO. It will cost more but it will cover more and I think I made the right decision. Insurance is such a mess. You never know what you have until you need it and then it’s a mystery too. I think I did the right thing. Who knows?

Stopped briefly at Reno Bottoms on our way home. I can’t remember if that was on my list(s) or not. It was beautiful of course but the north wind was blowing straight down the river and the temperature was around ten. Was not a day to be hanging around.

Also stopped to pick up the cat carrier to take the black cat to her vet appointment tomorrow. She is now incarcerated in Hans old crate which stays here since he has a new crate now. The black cat was not calm when she was put in it but she has since gotten used to it. She is not to eat or drink after 6:30 tonight.

I’m pretty much out of things to say - except I bought a bottled ice tea - at a Kwik Trip of course. It was their store brand and it was Citrus Mangosteen flavor. I have no idea why I bought it. It was ok. I looked up mangosteen. It’s an Asian fruit that doesn’t have a high vitamin content. Queen Victoria was interested in it. Here is Wiki’s article.
