Hello there Dear Readers!I decided I would write today because tomorrow,New Years Eve is getting to look really busy!It is my eldest daughter,Janet’s 48th Birthday and I am taking her out to lunch!! Wee-hoo!Should be great and I am really looking forward to it!Also she will be around later in the day to join Penny and I and the girls for some celebrations prior to them going out to see in the New year.I am not bothering to try to stay up too long as I get up at dawn anyway to walk Taitai.I will be keeping eyes and ears open for the grandies while Penny is carousing.I am not one for making New Years Resolutions, however, I am makiing one this year. Not to get into debt again!!It has been a long dry year this year and I have resolved not to inflict that on myself EVER again!May the New Year bring new delights and surprises.
On a different note,it is so horrible and sad that another aircraft has disappeared.Ghastly and I cannot think of much worse for families awaiting news,May God Bless them and comfort them.
I had a great Christmas.I went to Mass on Christmas Eve and it was lovely with a play depicting the Nativity with small and older children. We sang carols loudly and I felt really good.Ha ha!I was hugged by heaps of people and it was reassuring and really nice.We had our Christmas dinner here and were joined by Janet and Bill and Sammy and Jimmy.Much eating by most of us except Penny’s girls who had had a huge Christmas lunch at Chris’s parents place and couldn’t eat another bite! One of the hazards of separation I guess! However, they made up for it on Boxing Day!And the rest of us noshed up large!
It has been beautiful weather which is predicted to change from tomorrow onwards. Not TOO much please!I have had a swim in boistrous surf out at lovely Onetangi Beach and really loved the calm warm sunny weather. And the peaceful early mornings. The Island is overloaded with visitors and I ventured out on the bus to the Library yesterday.I didn’t go anywhere else and came home on the next bus! That is the secret to survival in these crowded times! We are lucky where we live as we have no neighbours and a sea and rural outlook.I did fall apart on Christmas Day afternoon.I was listening and watching a concert by a Smoan 3 tenors group who are now internationally famous and they sang Nessun Dorna.Oh my,the floodgates opened. The original 3 tenors were great favourites of my late beloved Richie. One Christmas we as a family gave him a video of the three tenors along with the CD and he would sit in rapture, tears rolling slowly down his bearded cheeks! The sweet memories quite undid me and made me yearn for him.I still miss him so much.He was a great fan of Christmas always.
So, I wish all of you the very very best for the New Year and enjoy the fresh new start it offers.I have a little resolution which I have no idea if I can keep. That is,not to jump to hasty conclusions and fire up before I have thought it through.Hmmm–mmm!
So,lots of love and God Bless you all
and have a Happy New Year!!!
Lots of love and hugsxxxxxx
