Salute! Lets just get this out of the way…Auntie Kes says that the T.H. stands for “the handsome” and I can’t help but agree.
I know I look a little sad in this shot Mom took of me this afternoon, but there are a couple of reasons for that. First, well, of course, a little melancholy is appropriate for a guy like me on the first day of winter. I like to be warm, as I don’t have as thick a coat as my ever-present brother dude.
And sadness too, just a touch of it, I have discovered is a bit romantic don’t you think? I do like to make a fine impression on women. And I do. My long Roman nose and white paws and long whiskers…
But the real reason I am sad is because since I have come to live here Mom feeds me this really yummy food but she is not feeding me E_N_O_U_G_H!
I am very sad about that. This morning I had to get all the way up on the stove to get the empty can (from breakfast earlier that she put there because she was going to get up on a chair to get the recycling bag way up on the very top of the kitchen cabinets so I can’t get in there) and bring it to her like some sort of common street cat so she would get the point that I need more food!!!
For such a nice lady Mom is a bit dense sometimes. Where I come from, a little extra girth around the belly is considered a bigger bundle to love.
The truth is though, really, things went from bad to worse where we were before and we never knew when there was going to be food and there never was enough and D-I-E-G-O always pushed his way in and got more than me and I was skinny and you could feel my ribs some when Mom brought me home.
She feeds me now separate from my brother, he is a bit of a handful, behind a closed door. I can’t help it but I get all excited when I hear the little glass plates come out of the dish drainer and I try to grab the food out of her hand when I hear the can open so she says I need to be in the bedroom while that is all going on for my own good.
Really I don’t mind. We didn’t have plates before.
But other than the food thing, Mom is pretty cool. She helps me take care of my little brother. He gets in these crazy moods and just won’t stop playing and goes for anything that moves so I have learned to be very still when I need to. But she shares the work. He thinks she’s another cat! He is always bapping at her like he does with me and she says Ow! A lot.
The other night she was reading on the futon wearing her knit hat with the Pom Pom inside out so he wouldn’t play with her shiny hair and he got up behind her and took that hat off with one deft swipe of his claw.
The coolest thing though (besides the box with a towel in it in front of the heater) is that mom plays with me too! With the bird toy. I dig the bird toy. It is Rad. I am working on my reverse double backflips and someday soon I am going to get someone from the adoption place to come take vids of me doing them.
Mom complains she can’t even get a decent still shot of me. But she is kind of old.
Anyway, don’t tell anybody but I think Auntie Kes is a little in love with me. Of course that is as it should be. Tomorrow they all have plans to go out to a fancy dinner without us for Christmas but Uncle Most Honorable is not feeling all that well so Auntie says she may come up anyway. She says she needs to drop off presents but I know…
She is really coming up to see me.
In the meantime I think I have some grooming to do.
