This last Sunday before Christmas is almost over, and it wasn’t a great day weather wise being mostly dull and damp, not at all an unusual day at the end of the year, no wonder the ancients celebrated the shortest day and the beginning of the return of the sun; there was Yuletide and then Christmas – the return of the Sun and then the coming of the Son.
As well as today being the shortest day it is also the day of the dog’s Agility Class Christmas Party, we all gathered at lunch time for some fun and agility, we were a little late for the agility but were there for the fun, the first game was dogs running to their owner passing toys and treats, the aim to not stop for treat or toy! Then there was the dogs on leads walked to a bone shaped biscuit, the winner being the first dog to finish the biscuit and returns to the fence with owner!
The last game was ‘musical sits’ dog and owner walk round until the music stops, I doubt the dogs knew music from noise, but the owners had ways of stopping their charges! The agility field is a little sparse on chairs, and some dogs can mount a chair more easily than others; as some owners are up slower out of chairs than other!
Among all that was the award of Trophies and Rosettes, most of the dog won Rosettes for the Agility courses run today, we had arrived after those. Then there was the awards for the monthly competitions though the year, Ziggy came first in two, and a joint first with another dog; a very good result for Ziggy and our Daughter winning three Trophies.
Ziggy’s three Trophies.
Lola won a Trophy for most improved dog of the year, she had been the most constant competitor, she also won the Trophy for the most popular dog, she has won that one twice in two years now. Then we had a real surprise, Lola was the Agility Champion of 2014, she didn’t get any firsts but came second many times; enough seconds to win by a good margin!
And Lola’s Trophies and Sash.
Jo congratulated our Daughter for the work she has up in with both Ziggy and Lola, so a very good year for Ziggy, Lola and our Daughter.
And some of our four leged friends ......
I just hope the New Year dosn’t works out like last time!
