I wrote this entry yesterday. Both were written on ED.
Some news and I think I’m ready for Christmas
First thing is that I found out this morning that I will not get the incentive to retire sooner than later. Bummer, but I was only hopeful and not counting on it happening. One one of my employees who also turned in a survey of interest will get it, but she hasn’t been notified yet. The surprise will be that it is probable she will have to be gone by February!! Goodness that isn’t much time actually. But I will keep it to myself it she officially gets word as things can change between now and then.
Took off a bit early on Tuesday and accomplished my Christmas shopping. Last night I finished up the doll wardrobe which were lack shoes and now they each have a pair of shoes and a pair of sandals. heh
Wrapped both grandsons presents last night and oldest son’s gift. I will have the grandkids again this Saturday so will not put the kids’ presents under the tree until they leave. It is just too tempting to have boxes under the tree with their names on them.
I received a package/box from a good friend of mine and it just made my YEAR. Beautiful handmade Christmas wreath, and a couple of other beautiful things and I was so touched that I just cried. Who would have EVER thought you could have a friend so close that took years to be able to meet in person who considered you and you her a BFF after only one face to face meeting. I’m just saying that our friendship had spiritual intervention and I’m so thankful that it does. I’m afraid she got the short end of the stick as I just don’t get things mailed very often. Matter of fact I still haven’t sent one Christmas card yet, but if possible will get those done on Sunday so they can go out in the mail on Monday. Most should arrive at their destinations before Christmas all tho I send one to AK and it may not. I keep the cards on my kitchen table so I won’t completely forget but it seems there is something more pressing to get done. Then before I know it, I’m exhausted and it’s time for bed. Not enough time nor energy to complete enough things. I need to start much earlier and would have except for dad’s health. Thankfully he is doing ok right now.
Daughter called me this AM after I got to work and her fridge quit. Slam bang stopped!! It is only about 3 yrs old and of course the extended warranty has lasped now. Grrrrr. She found an appliance repair person and met her later this morning. The defroster motor is about to die. He could do somthing to make it start working again, but has ordered a replacement and will change it out on Tuesday. I think it is great that this can happen this quickly so close to Christmas and he also showed her what to do to make it come back on if it does again before the old is replaced with the new. Sheesh!
Meetings this morning at work and a mandatory training this afternoon and then VACATION!!! So can’t wait for it to start. The only hiccup was babysitting tomorrow but I have a plan for the grands to help with getting the stockings hung and helping me make some haystacks. Maybe some cookies too if all doesn’t get to chaotic.
Lunch time is over so must get to work, although I’m caught up which is a joyous thing to be able to write. I should be back here before Christmas so everyone take care, stay safe, and manage that stress. lol
God Bless
Friday night and Saturday with the grands-Saturday at 7:04pm
Wow!! I love my grandkids, but I was soooo glad when their mother arrived to take them to their play practice. Goodness my 11yr old granddaughter is showing signs of the “teenage” years to come. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! It is going to be some stressful years for her parents I fear. I tried to keep them busy working on projects that I “thought” they would like doing. 50/50 on that so I am pretty sure that is a big “F” for a grade for me. The butterscotch haystacks was an enjoyed project by the 3 of them. We made one batch and made 3 kinds of haystacks. The first 7 or 8 haystacks were plain haystacks, the next several had peanuts added to the mix and the last 7 or 8 received a “snow” cap of coconut. After they cooled I put them in the fridge on cookie sheets to set up. While they were being cooled, I got ingredients ready for for oatmeal raisin cookies. Again, the first 18 cookies were made without the raisins but the rest of the batch had raisins. I haven’t made cookies of any kind for a long time so I suppose I’m on a roll this year. Chocolate covered pretzels, peanut clusters and haystacks for the dinner at work and an eclair dessert that had all but two small servings eaten. No leftover peanut cluster to bring home but didn’t take all I made either. Heh!! Had a few chocolate covered pretzels left and had saved some back of them too. So now, to add to the breakfast menu I’ll have some cookies and candies made for later in the day on Christmas. The grands weren’t really interested in helping make the oatmeal cookies but that was ok. Think I ended up with a little over 4 dozen because made the cookies smaller than normal. Kind of a 2-3 bite cookie. I may make some sugar cookies or peanut butter cookies before Christmas but not sure right now.
While the grands ate breakfast this morning I did get my Christmas cards done, sealed, stamped AND MAILED. Believe it or not the stamped and mailed part hasn’t always happened in years past. Didn’t send as many this year, but several.
Did get all my laundry washed, dried, hung up or folded and put away. I have one more small load for J to do and then I’ll be caught up with laundry. Swept my kitchen floor after I finished up the baking and dishes and fed the grands a snack....well they came back for more snacks and just as their mom got in the door, the girls had a squabble and dumped a 1/2 bag of pretzels in the floor. I made them clean it up before they could leave. Little snots. I will still sweep again and vacuum tomorrow.
I am pretty sure that everything I ordered online has made it here in record time. I ordered the wrong HDMI cable to hook up my laptop to my TV and really really hated it when I discovered the bufoo. I will go back on line and see if I can find the right connector for the laptop and TV. Geeze, I’m so technically lacking. I’ll get it right it just takes me wayyyy toooo long!!
I’m totally worn out right now and for whatever reason my back is killing me. Going to watch a Dr. Phil and possibly get in my bed before 8. I didn’t sleep really great last night and then woke up at 4. I tried to go back to sleep but ended up getting up at 4:45. Wonder if I’ll ever sleep til 6 while I’m on vacation? Time will tell I suppose.
God Bless and take care
