Hi there dear Readers!
I hope you are all well and looking forward to a good Christmas. To be sure, I know that many will be lonely and sad, however, however, also try to remember it is just one day in 365 and will soon be over.Unfortunately nowadays, not so many attend church, and so miss out on that public affection and love shown at Christmas.Or their beliefs are not those of us who celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and their values of moderation constrain them from spending. Many loving thoughts and blessings from me to you if you are alone and sad at this festive time.As a limited income person who has been budgeting herself out of debt all year, I have had to limit myself in MY spending as well which is heaps better than being in debt!I have been able to buy small presents for all the grandies tho and will be able to contribute to the Christmas luncheon we are having here where we live, for Penny and her girls and her ex-husband Chris and Janet,my eldest and her partner Bill and Sammy and Jimmy!I am forever hopeful that my son may turn up with his young ones, however, am always understanding if he doesn’t.It is a long way to come and very expensive so, probably not. Will miss them terribly however.
I am hoping that people will not over imbibe in alcohol this Christmas as I always do with 34 years of sobriety now and still vivid memories of drinking to excess at Christmas.Dishing up dinner to my Mum and my family then passing out.Uurgh!Mum was always good about it ,also my late beloved husband Richie: however, I can never forget my doing that, much as other bad memories of my 10 years of being a drunk. So my prayers will include gratitude for my sobriety and a plea for alcohol restraint this Christmas.
It has been a very bad 16 days internationally for the very citizens we celebrate :children. We have had over 130 children killed in Pakistan in a revenge attack by the Taliban, the hostage seige in Sydney in which a young mother died and now, the killing of 8 children by their mother in Queensland. These events are horrific.Let us remember that in the last case, the mother must have been mentally deranged and desperate to kill her children and please try not to judge. We only know what the media tells us, and will never walk in her shoes. The gunman in the seige was likely to be a nutter as well. However, the Taliban deliberatly and cold-bloodedly killing 130 children in their school is another matter matter altogether: I simply cannot process killing so many children in revenge.I can only pray for the desolate and grief-stricken parents .Oh Lord give them comfort.Children are our worlds future, not weapons of war EVER!We as parents must love, protect and nourish, and cherish them always.
It has been a sort of busy time for me, with moments of humour and great kindness. The bugeting service I have been attending brought me round 2 cartons of food, ordinary stuff and also some festive food!Like a small ham, fruit mince pies, chosolates tinned fruit etc. They also enclosed a present for me of toiletries and I was overwhelmed! As I thanked them,in tears, I said, “All I did was get in debt!’ Their reply, ‘Ah, but you are getting yourself OUT of debt!’ And just as all my money was running out, my lovely sister-in-law put some money into my bank account, then told me she had done it so I couldn’t refuse!!How is that?
My I am very blest.
My endless gratitude to all of them.
The humour is in every part of Penny and Janet and my lives. All of us know heartbreak and worry and sadness and tell each other and somehow we end up laughing and we get through!Ah that is sooo–oo good!
Another sad thing is our little nation which has some real poverty in some peoples’ lives.Unfortunately we also have a judgemental ever increasing ‘moneyed group’ group who just don’t get it.They judge the people lined up at the City Mission who are trying to survive and need food parcels and I wonder if they have ever known what it is to try to feed a family and find accommodation to live on a pittance that welfare hands out.Jobs are scarce or not suitable, the majority of these people have tried for work and are still trying. They are all people and have children.Help is what they need, not judgement. As our City Missioner said when asked what her Mission needs most.’Money’, was her answer.I pray the wealthey might get their heads out of the sand and realise they are not going hungry and unhoused on purpose!!!Some are without hope now.A chnage of heart would help.
The weather is at last coming right. We have had occasional fine days, however, mostly humid horrible mucky wet and windy days.Today, it has cleared with a southerly change and sunshine.I do hope it stays that way for Christmas Day, as we are hoping to eat outside!
I will be going to Mass on Christmas Eve this year.I usually do the reading on Christmas Day however, not this year!It is great, because I can help Penny set up for lunch. Also, give my grandies their presents!
I wish you all a wonderful blessed and family Christmas.Children and Christmas are my reasons for saying this.If you are alone and cannot get out,ask a friend to phone you or a quick visit. Please don’t be sad.It is just one day as I said in 365 days.I celebrate the birth of Jesus. You celebrate your life and may God Bless you all
and I love you all,
Lots of love and hugs,
Majimazexxxxxx
