Back at it. in A small but passable life.

I’ve got the bedroom and the little bit by the back door painted. That only took two easy days. After that Mom said we could wait a few days to start up again. No such luck. After the last two days of watching me do nothing but dink on the laptop and read, because it was too cloudy and cool to hang out at the pool, Mom decided that maybe the kitchen could be painted before Christmas. Whatever.

So, I’ll drink this last cup of coffee and then get up and start the project again. I’ve got a lot of trim to mask off. I used to be able to cut in a line pretty easy and not have to mask, but all these years later, with the damage to my wrists and hands, it seems just too slow. Plus this double vision I’ve had for a couple of years makes me keep one eye closed most of the time. And since I can only close the left eye independently it gets rather tiring.

And of course there is the fact that even though I’m an excellent painter I truly hate to paint.

Anyway, onward and forward.

The weather has returned to the normal of daytime highs in the sixties and nighttime lows in the forties. Next week there is forecast to be a few days in the seventies. Those will be days by the pool. If I can get away from the painting.

I keep going back to my last entry or to my youtube channel and watching that video. And I can’t really pinpoint the exact date Perry filmed that. I’m sure of the year because that was when we were living in married student housing at the university. I do remember Christy’s mannerisms. That slow crazy roll and crazy smile she always had. Because she was, well, crazy.

It looks like I’ve committed myself to Tuesday evening Rummikub over in the Apache Room. Mom spent one evening teaching me the game. Last Tuesday was my first night playing in the group. There were three tables of four people. We were seated by a random draw. I guess I’ve learned the game because after our two hour session I came out as the winner. Everybody says they don’t get too serious about the game, but they really do. I can roll with that.

Now Mom thinks I should learn Canasta. I think I’ll pass on learning another game. For now.

So yeah, I guess I better get up and get busy. Keep Mom happy and refraining from uttering her subtle hints about my laziness. If she only knew what you guys know?
