I didn’t get that job. A bit sad because it DID sound like fun, but in a way it’s kind of a relief because I was worried about working it around this job. The reply I got was very nice.

“Dear Sonja,

Thank you very much for coming to an interview on Friday for the post of Costumed Servant. You came across as very pleasant and personable, but there were candidates with more experience of this area. So, unfortunately, you were not successful for this post, but I would be very happy to offer you the post of casual café assistant, which may also offer the opportunity for some casual shop work. I’d be very happy to have a chat about this if you are interested.”

I think that’s the nicest rejection email I’ve ever had! I’m going to politely decline, as they only offer seasonal roles. I’d much rather stick with my dead cert job for now.

That is going really well. I’ve never been made to feel like the new girl. All the staff are lovely, I get included in all the conversations and already I’ve been asked on two staff nights out. The first one was Saturday just gone, which I turned down because the manager was paying and I’d literally been there for 4 hours when I was asked. I’m enjoying the job, I’m good at shop work which makes it easier to get through the day.

Today my provisional driving licence came through the post, along with a cheque for £14 as I’d obviously paid for the wrong thing. So that was a nice surprise! As soon as new year rolls around I’ll be looking into getting lessons.

I’m content where I am right now. I’m getting paid weekly, my boss is lovely and my job is enjoyable. John is bouncy since I’ve started work too, so my enthusiasm is obviously rubbing off on him! Rob also seems to be enjoying his new pot washing job as he’s coming home with a decent tip every night during the run up to Christmas.

The Sister on Friday. Yay!
