Until yesterday I'd not even heard of Prosebox - so I'm hoping that I can manage find all of you from my OD Friends list who've navigated here. Hopefully you've all kept the same names!
It wasn't really supposed to be this way. I had high hopes that, once I'd completed my latest Open University module, I might be able to find a bit of spare time to actually start writing on OD again on a regular basis. But... it didn't happen. Just as I was coming to the end of my university assignment was the moment where things went really crazy at work. By crazy I mean that the economic recovery took hold pretty strongly and I suddenly found myself going from working 40 hours per week to averaging at around 52 hours per week - and as high as 56. Well 56 hours - that's working 7 days worth of work in 5 days isn't it? They even asked me if I'd go in on a Saturday - that was a non-starter. I go to Hull on Saturdays and that's not up for negotiation.
Anyway, work aside, there's been lots of other stuff going on too. I could throw together another photo catch-up entry like the last one but some of these things deserve entries of their own.
I took a week of holiday at the beginning of October (which is the week in which Jesica's birthday falls) so we managed to see each other on 6 out of those 9 days that formed that week and the weekends either side of it. I introduced Jesica to my Uncle Paul and Auntie Anne when I took them (and my grandad) out for a meal at Whitby's in Doncaster. Another really good meal was the one that Jesica and I went out for on the evening of her birthday. Her birthday was on a Tuesday so it was very easy to get a table and, indeed, a table with a lovely view out across Hull marina. Certainly I'll write more about all of that later. Also in that week I met Jesica's brother properly (having met him briefly last year) when we had a meal out with him, his girlfriend and her baby. The final big meal of that week was with Jesica and my parents. Yeah, we did eat rather a lot that week now I come to think about it... Anyway, there are photos for all of these occasions so I'll write more as and when I get time...
A couple of weeks ago it was Hull Fair - Jesica and I went to it on the final Saturday and there are photos from that too. Bright, pretty, shiny photos...
For now I'll jump forward to the present (and the future) for the rest of this entry. It can't have escaped the notice of many that Saturday 23rd November 2013 is the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. Many of you will know that the 50th anniversary episode of the show is is going to be simultaneously in over 80 different countries worldwide. You might also know that, at the same time, the episode is going to be played at cinemas too.
Well, I think you know where I'm going with this? Yes, Jesica and I have managed to get tickets to see the episode on the big screen at Vue Cinema in Hull. It should be quite an experience - I'm sure that the atmosphere will be amazing. Usually when we go to the cinema we can count the people on our fingers - but the Doctor Who showing is, of course, selling out everywhere so it'll be a packed theatre.
So what does one wear to such an event? Well, believe it or not, I'll be going in costume as the 4th Doctor. I've bought a brown curly wig (it'll be interesting to have hair again...) and a 13ft Doctor Who scarf on Amazon and I'll be able to throw the rest of the look together from my own clothes - with maybe a few other minor purchases. I don't know yet if Jesica will be going in costume but she did recently go to a Halloween party as Madame Vastra... so you never know. I couldn't go to that party myself because work wouldn't let me have the days off that I needed. Someone else had got in ahead of me...
I've rambled on enough for now...
Anyway, here's the most recent photo of us:
This was taken this Saturday just gone at the Odeon in Lincoln. We went to see Ender's Game. I have to say it wasn't the best film we've ever seen. I found it pretty slow going and Jesica reckons that she dozed slightly during it. So we're not really recommending it. We've seen several other far better film recently.
Right, I'm going to do my best to try and catch up with your latest entries this week... and then hopefully get myself back into writing properly and regularly. I've missed reading you all but I just ran out of hours in my weeks for a while...
