Here I go, again on my own in My Unpredictable Life ...

Can someone please explain to me how I can go from Public Enemy #1 to The Golden Child, all in the blink of an eye?
Oi vey but these people make my head spin!
I left out of work on Monday morning, on a mission to kill them with kindness. I was tired of being taken advantage of. I was tired of the lies. I was tired, period.
I went home, made The Child breakfast, gave her her antibiotic, and was in bed by 9am with instructions to wake me if she started running a fever or needed me for anything.
I woke up at 3pm. Best 6 hours of sleep I'd had in a long time. It'd been a few days since I had gotten more than 5 at one time so that might have helped lol. But I think that by finally letting go of the work issue helped a lot also.
I took the dog out to potty. While I was outside, I checked my phone to see if I had missed any calls. Nope. But I had missed a text message at 2pm.
From work.
Needing my help with a problem they were having and Bill couldn't be reached. The hell?
Since it was after 3 at this time, I knew Ruth was on shift & she could help with the so called issue. I did send Joleen a text back replying that I had just woke up and did she still need me to call? She replied back that they had gotten it figured out and that she had forgotten The Child was home sick from school and had thought I would be getting up at that time (2pm). Then she wanted to know how The Child was. Really? Because the day before, when I had sent a text that it was strep throat, you couldn't be bothered to reply back. In fact, you have never once ignored a text from me but since we had had the argument on Sunday morning, I was no longer worthy enough. So anyway, I replied she was doing much better and thanks for asking.
On Wednesday afternoon Joleen is calling my cell phone. Normally, it is no biggie. She calls at least once a week but since Rachel had been fired, she'd stop calling (nothing to bitch about lol). So for her to be calling me then, well, I was a bit apprehensive about answering it.
I should mention that Wednesday was payday. Our hotel does not offer direct deposit so we have to go in and pick up a paper paycheck lol. Normally I am there by mid-morning to get mine. That particular day I was dreading going in to get it. I was almost set to let it wait till Friday night when I came in to work, or at least wait till I picked The Child up from school first & then go in since management would be gone for the day when I finally got there. I just did not want to deal with those people. At all.
So I answer my phone.
"Sassy?"
"Yes Ma'am?"
"Are you okay?"
"Yes Ma'am. Why?"
"You are usually in by now to get your paycheck. I was worried that something had happened to you or that The Child had gotten worse. She is okay isn't she?"
"Oh yeah. Today is payday isn't it. The Child is just fine. She went back to school yesterday. Thank you for asking about her."
"Are you coming in to get your paycheck? Are you sure you are ok?"
"Yes, I'll be in to pick it up in a little while. Yes, I am fine. Just been busy."
"Oh, okay then. I'll see you when you get here."
"Ok. Bye."
I go in about 30 minutes later and all 3 of them (Bill the owner, Tami the manager aka Bill's sister, aka Joleen's daughter, and Joleen, Bill and Tami's mother) could not act happier to see me. I'm almost positive that if you play back the video from the security camera's that I have a huge WTF? look on my face. They acted as if the past few weeks had never taken place. Did they just turn around and use my "kill them with kindness" against me?
The only thing I can figure out is that by my putting in the front desk notebook that I would be willing to cover New Year's Eve/Day, it put me back in their good graces. Why, I have no idea. THEY were the ones assuming I didn't want to work the holidays. I said I would NOT work Christmas Eve and that I was going to be out of town for Thanksgiving, therefore was not going to be able to work it. I could have cried like a 2 year old and screamed injustice about working Christmas Night since Shelia blackmailed me into it. But I gave my word so I will honor my word. I will work Christmas Night unless Bill tells me not to. So all of their assumptions were on them, not caused by me. Of course, them falling for Shelia's sob stories/lies didn't help me any, but again, that's on them, not me. I control no one but myself.
So whatever they are up to, I wish them luck. It will be entertaining I'm sure to say the least. I still stand firm on killing them with kindness. But anything beyond work related is gone out the window. I don't play games with people's emotions and feelings. Therefore I will not allow them to do the same to me. Whatever personal level we had going on is now a thing of the past. And from now on if I am asked to switch/cover/come in on my day off, the answer will be no. I refuse to be a team player for them from here on out. After what I went through to get my daughter's birthday off and then 1 other night, yeah, no. They made their bed, now they can lie in it.
Till next time .... (maybe by then I will be able to find the sheet that was ripped out of the front desk notebook with my note volunteering to work New Year's since it is now missing from the book ...)
By the way ... I want to post some pictures of my 1st local family photo session I did a couple of weeks ago. That entry will be friends only so if you want to be able to see them, let me know so I can add you to the Friends Only list

I'm doing the trifecta of holiday working (or is it the quatrain, if you add in Black Friday). I work Thanksgiving which goes over into black friday, I work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, and my birthday... all necessary evils... :S
